Reagan’s speech is fine, but the absence of a religious affiliation makes Republicanism eternally doomed to failure. Liberalism is both political and religious in that it seeks to completely determine the relationships among men and between men and God. Republicanism has no direct association with any religion, and so the political pendulum merely swings between “Hey, America, here is a way to live a happy, Godless life through total government control” (Left liberal) and “Hey, if you want to be Godless, that’s cool, but can you really be happy without money?” (Right liberal).
