White House Blog Releases Obama’s Long Form COLB

In 2008, in response to media inquiries, the President’s campaign requested his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. The state sent the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and the campaign immediately posted it on the internet. That birth certificate can be seen here (PDF).
When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal Government and the courts for all legal purposes. That’s because it is the birth certificate. This is not and should not be an open question.
The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting. President Barack Obama’s long form birth certificate can be seen here (PDF):
At a time of great consequence for this country – when we should be debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once again distracted by a fake issue. The President’s hope is that with this step, we can move on to debating the bigger issues that matter to the American people and the future of the country.

If it is truly an authentic copy, then where is the notary seal? Look at the top of the document where the words “STATE OF HAWAII, CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH and DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH” appear. Not a font that was available, never mind used, in 1961. Look at the letter “K” in all of the “typewritten” words. In some places it is clear and sharp and in perfect alignment with the other letters and in others it has a soft outline, as if it were treated to a Gaussian blur in Photoshop AND it is not aligned vertically with the other letters. It should be either aligned or not, consistently across the document if, in fact, it were actually produced with a typewriter. Look at his name at the top. Behind the words are white space not matching the background pattern. Also, any name with Junior, II, etc. on any certificate I have seen, has had that suffix printed after the FIRST name. In this case it looks like it was added as an afterthought. I have never questioned that he was NATIVE-born in the USA. My question concerns his NATURAL-born status. The Founders of this Republic knew perfectly well which words to use when they drafted the Constitution. It was not an oversight that they used natural-born as opposed to native-born.

The phrasing (“African” “Caucasian”) doesn’t match 1950′s-1960′s era birth certificates or other government documents. My own BC lists me as “White,” as well as my parents the same way. I’ve seen BC’s from that time of black people, and the common listing for race was “Negro.” I’m not saying this is a forgery, but I’m not convinced it’s genuine.

this thing seems to be digitally edited, there are layers of print that can be removed as a layer in acrobat pro and some type is part of the green basket weave original. I’ve never seen a scan like this with layers. It was not ocr’d because you cant perform a search.

I’m bothered by that green pattern as well. You can see distortion where a document was laid face-down on a scanner or copy machine, but the pattern is undistorted. If that was added, why? If this was printed out on patterned paper…again, why?
I guess if they’re saying this is what a BC looks like when any Hawaiian citizen requests a copy, this is what they get…then I want to see a copy of a BC requested by Joe Shmoe of Kona.

Following more than two years of controversy surrounding the issue, the White House today released a copy of President Obama’s “Certificate of Live Birth.”
The certificate bears the signature of David A. Sinclair, a retired physician who died Aug. 20, 2003, at the age of 81.
