Mitt Romney to birthers: Barack Obama was born here. Period.

from politico

Mitt Romney forcefully said Tuesday night that he believes President Barack Obama was born in America and that “the citizenship test has been passed.”

“I think the citizenship test has been passed. I believe the president was born in the United States. There are real reasons to get this guy out of office,” Romney told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow the day after he formally announced that he’s exploring a run for the White House. “The man needs to be taken out of office but his citizenship isn’t the reason why.”

Really, Mitt? How do you KNOW?

Mitt Romney is a mormon. Mormon doctrine teaches that Jesus appeared in South America and lived as he had in biblical, new testament times. Mitt Romney could also believe the moon is made of blu cheese. Is there a candidate who is interested in saving our republic or are they all hell bent for “cashing in”?

Mitt Romney is a looser. Like John McLame. The Democrats could have beat McSame with Carl the Wonder Poodle, and if Romney is the candidate this time, the O probably will win all 57 states.

The problem with him and many like him is that he surrounds himself with fans and never hears the truth which is that the country doesn’t like him or want him. We need to say “No Thank You” to the perpetual candidates.

Well, I’m going to play devil’s advocate a bit. I think we’d be better off devoting our resources towards beating this SOB at the ballot box. The birth argument hasn’t stuck yet and I don’t see any chance for success with it.

I loves me a good conspiracy theory and this one really fits my bill, but it’s not going to get the job done. Don’t underestimate the power of the Presidency. This is not going to stick while he’s in office.

We can’t divide into factions and beat this man. We’ve got be as united as we possibly can be. Four more years of this man will most likely result in one or perhaps more appointments to the Supreme Court. On just that basis alone, we must remove him from office.

The left will make every attempt to divide us. We can’t take the chance on something that ‘might’ work. An opponent capable of winning, with an overwhelming vote against Obama, one that can’t be manipulated by Soros’ SOS project is imperative.

    My $0.02.

2 cents noted. Now if you harbor doubts about the process on which Obama was vetted you don’t need to do any heavy lifting. You neither have to beat the drum that Obama must show his certificate (others will do that) NOR come out and say that “as far as you’re concerned he’s a citizen” and everyone else should stop investigating.
I think it’s asinine to act as if the fringe who is still digging and needling is somehow taxing vital resources. Ignore it and do you’re own thing. Being irritated or annoyed at their work is tantamount to giving Obama a free pass.
I think what is at the heart of this is people not wanting to look “foolish” in the eyes of people who have NO IDEA if Obama is qualified for the presidency or not. Call me foolish.
I don’t actively pursue the “birther” issue, but I have no reason to tell others to “stop it, period.” Romney is a clownfart wrapped in a 1000 dollar suit under a 300 dollar haircut. – bfh

Trump is getting a lot of momentum out of the birth certificate issue. Now, to keep from being overshadowed and left in a cloud of Trump’s dust, you choose to adopt the RINO platform. How’s that gonna help, Mitt. Question mark.

My other thought is this (in response to boomerang):

If you believe the birth certificate issue is BS, maybe it’s a good idea to treat it like BS — literally. You find a fresh steamy pile just lying on the ground, few if any of us are going to go out of our way to destroy it. It’s one of those things that’s best left alone if you don’t know what you’re doing.

I agree with Boomerang. I’m convinced Obama is NOT a natural born citizen, therefore ineligible, no matter where he was born, BUT why waste time and resources trying to push the case? By the time it gets adjudicated, he’ll be long gone, leaving the country in a total train wreck.

Much more effective to un-elect his toadies and minions in congress and and counter the state controlled media with truth and facts. Support all of the Tea Party freshman and put pressure on the mush mouthed RINO’s. We the people are taking back the country and political hacks on both sides are shaking like a dog shitting razor blades.

There’s a reckoning, or several coming – ObamaCare and AZ immigration law are both headed for SCOTUS. If we win either, good ship Obama will pretty much be scuttled.

See above. What vital resources are being squandered? If the people pursuing the birther issue are loons their resources are tainted no matter what they are doing. So what’s the problem? What is so difficult about saying “Obama is not constitutionally qualified to be president”? There. I just did it. Should I have written a different sentence because I wasted
    “vital resources” ?
I just don’t follow that argument, AT ALL. You waste as much energy saying it’s a waste of energy. – bfh

OOOOOH Mitt, you’re so tough-thanx for telling me what I should think.

While this whole slew of questions, from the string of SS#s to his missing kindergarden records, his sealed college transcripts, his sealed passport records, his sealed medical records, his sealed college financials…can kinda of all be lumped under the “birther’ invective, there are so many other avenues to attack President Motown that I think we’re using up our oxygen to confront him with birther issues.

If we had an unbiased press…yeah yeah, I know, if I had wings… But we don’t so lets make the case for President Toothpick to be a one termer on the very real nightmares he’s foisted on us. And there are plenty of them.

As for Mitt, I can only hope he gets the message early, that he’s persona non grata. To come out and say this was like McCain saying he wasn’t going to question any of Obama’s past associations. Why in the heck tell your opponent what your strategy entails?

Why? Here’s why. Because MItt believes putting on the gloves will win him friends in the left dominated media. This is exactly the same damn trap that all of our nominees seem to fall into.

The telling quote is “… I believe the president was born in the United States …”

His “belief” has nothing, necessarily, to do with reality. A belief is a notion held without proof.

Boomerang said “the birth argument hasn’t stuck yet and I don’t see any chance for success with it.” I respectfully disagree. As hard as it might be for the intelligent, tech-savvy iOTW audience to believe, millions of Americans are hearing about this issue for the first time, thanks to Trump. Did anyone notice that even The Donald said he only became aware of the birth certificate controversy recently? This is an easy to understand issue, unlike the complicated savings and loan scandal of years past. I would like to see the “Man Country” rumors added into the mix as the public loves a good sex scandal. Trump, to his credit, has commented that Barry had no friends (of the female persuasion?) in school.

This issue continues to gain traction because Barry makes decisions against the best interests of the country. He is NOT one of us.

    @norman-
Yes they are called “garments”. Mormons buy them through their own church stores. Available for both men and women. The design is somewhat like full body underwear only cut off at mid thigh. They are never to be without them, even bathing. Technically you would shed them down to one foot (#.1) and leave that apendage outside the bath, switching to the other foot (#2) when time to wash (#1). Same as to changing to a clean pair. A foot is anchored to the clean pair before removing the old.

Mormons are very territorial. Everything they do is in the name of good works and every good work aspires to benefit the “church”, and ultimately their level of success in the afterlife where they (men) will each be given their own planet and be like Jesus was to this one. Not too unlike the 72 virgin crowd. Anyway, a driving force to Mitt Romneys personal motivation is the forwarding of the church image and its presence in our society. This drives every mormon and can be seen in their success in business and arts. They drive themselves to succeed for spiritual benefit.

When I mentioned territorial I meant to say that it includes doing business first (and last) with other mormons, marriage should be to another mormon. Example if a mormon married a catholic 90
% of the time the catholic converts. Tithing is mandatory and a suggested auto bank deduction should be set up to accomodate this. Mormons speak no ill will of other mormons no matter how corrupt (maybe Okenyan is a mormon to Romney?)

Converting infidel (yep, just like muslims) non mormons has a point system that can be used to pray deseased non mormon family members into mormon heaven. Serious, I am just scratching the surface but now must stop with this last observation otherwise it looks like preaching and that is mormon history also includes teaching of retribution of drawing the finger across the throat imitating a knife.

    http://www.newsweek.com/2003/07/20/murder-in-the-name-of-god.html.

Google mormon blood atonement, throat cutting and you are not too far away from the mid east neck wackers.

The beauty of Trump’s message is that the threat of being flattened by media defenders doesn’t intimidate him in the least, and he is making the clear point that any prospective voter has the right to demand a simple, straight up response from the fellow citizen seeking OUR vote. Show the damn certificate and stop with the games. This is serious and unless you deliver the expected proof, no amount of legal maneuvering will make you trustworthy. Investors who aren’t convinced that the “Deal” has substance just walk away. NO SALE. Trump, the “deal-maker” has it all over the “Say whatever to get your vote, then do the opposite” Obama.

Romney starts his campaign by telling us something that he knows we know is a lie: that he, Mitt Romney, has knowledge of Obama’s birth. This isn’t really lying, it’s “bullshitting”. A liar is someone who thinks he knows the truth and wants to deceive others. A bullshitter doesn’t know the truth or even care about the truth, or even care that you know he doesn’t know the truth. He’s using rhetoric not to derive or convey truth but merely to evoke a sentiment or an image or make you like him.

Society can tolerate liars. We took a wrong turn when we started accepting bullshitters, though. Just think about how many times per day people say things to each other that both know are false, as if it’s a ritual.

This is true of most faithful adult members of the Church. (Mormon children are generally dressed the same as any other children.) The special underwear is called a “garment” by Mormons, and it is directly related to Mormon temples….”

bfh, I want to both apologize and clarify what I meant to say. In no way did I intend to diminish the efforts of those pursuing the issue of Obama’s birth. My post was by no means an attempt to marginalize their work. I think it’s a noble issue and I hope they are successful. I’d like nothing more that to see him run out of office and facing charges.

My point, and I see that I must have made it badly is that at a certain point the birther issue, assuming it’s unsuccessful, will need to be set aside to concentrate on getting a candidate on the ballot that can beat Obama. That point is not now, but waiting until for example, September of 2012 is going to be too late IMO.

I was thinking far ahead and I can see how my post could be taken as being a statement regarding the current timeframe.

If I didn’t have the utmost respect for yourself and this site I wouldn’t be taking the time to say what I’m saying here now. I hope I have done a better job of communicating this time around. I apologize if I pissed you off, it certainly was not my intention.
