Socialized Medicine Bureaucrat Dies After Waiting 9 Months for Operation

Posted by Van Helsing

Socialized medicine occasionally prescribes a bitter dose of poetic justice:

A former NHS director died after waiting for nine months for an operation — at her own hospital.

Margaret Hutchon, a former mayor, had been waiting since last June for a follow-up stomach operation at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.

But her appointments to go under the knife were cancelled four times and she barely regained consciousness after finally having surgery.

Her devastated husband, Jim, is now demanding answers from Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust — the organisation where his wife had served as a non-executive member of the board of directors.

He said: ‘I don’t really know why she died. I did not get a reason from the hospital. We all want to know for closure. She got weaker and weaker as she waited and operations were put off.’

What did he expect from government, straight answers and accountability?

Mrs Hutchon was well known and respected after serving in local government for the past 30 years and she became mayor of Chelmsford in 2006.

You would think that at least bureauweenies will still be able to get decent healthcare, even after ObamaCare finishes congealing. But just as a rising tide of freedom lifts all boats, when liberty ebbs, every last one of us ends up on the rocks.

So many jokes…..but it’s terrible when people die, unless their murderers or pedophiles then it’s ok to joke about it.

Matt: if I was 26 years old and needed an operation. I would have done it long ago. At 61, what’s the point, I want to go back to work, drive a car be productive again. No one wants a healthy old fart working for them; and I wouldn’t hire me either.
That’s why I don’t see the point of going in debt;big time.
Just to sit around the house all day. That got old the first week.

    Sorry, Dale.

Libs don’t get that “equality” in socialist terms means we all get to die the same way.
I get a little bitchy when some bureaucrats tell me I need to suffer. If I have to go under those circumstances, then they’re all coming with me.

    And it’ll be a scream.

No one, in government, answers the phone any more. Back when the dinosaurs walked, they used to….

Now, one just “talks” to voice mail while the bureaucrat is “in training,” or “on leave…” or at a birthday party.

(One *never* reaches anyone in government a week before Thanksgiving until a week after New Year’s…. There are simply too many mandatory parties. sigh…. It is very difficult for them to juggle it all….)

Why, oh why, should anyone expect anything (with govt) to be any different? Don’t liberals understand? Don’t they — sometimes — have to talk to someone in govt, themselves? *None* of it “works.” At all. Ever. The TSA, groping the genitals of Americans, is the Silly, Incompetent Face of Government.

At the same time: it is sad, sad, sad.

Being an insider, she probably knew her fate. Too sad.

Cross out your name and face and assign you as Unit 545,689. It’s easier to make you no longer economically viable that way from a few hundred miles away.

Winston Churchill aptly described socialism as “a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”

I’m glad to see all the Progs sharing, they should share more with each other, faster.

The doctor I work with has family in Italy. He said they have socialized medicine over there, and it takes two months just to see your doctor. So I said, “It’s basically, ‘take a number, get in line and if you’re still alive when your number is called we’ll see what we can do’?” He said pretty much.

Maddog. Nice twist. It’s the corporation’s fault not the government. Wow. New talking point. Be sure to let Schumer and his ilk know.

  19. [...] Thomas Lifson A former director of Britain’s National Health Service, which runs the country’s socialized medicine system, has died while waiting 9 months for an operation. The UK Daily Mail reports: A former NHS director died after waiting for nine months for an operation – at her own hospital. Margaret Hutchon, a former mayor, had been waiting since last June for a follow-up stomach operation at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. Her devastated husband, Jim, is now demanding answers from Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust – the organisation where his wife had served as a non-executive member of the board of directors. I am confident Ms. Hutchon believed in what she did as a socialized medicine official, and her husband’s grief deserves our respect and sympathy. But she is a victim of a system that in the name of compassion denies people care. Hat tip: Moonbattery and iOwnThe World [...]

Well, at least over there they treat (or not) everyone equally.

Remember: Health care will be free, once everyone is forced to buy it.
