The last five to eight seconds of this is the money part…. well duh, barack….. of course you are going to continue to throw money down the rathole of the public option, when its not performing as planned. Private insurers can’t do that….

To the USPS:
If you are with USPS you should be dismissed or such a statement as is smacks of political reprisas which are banned by many laws. If you aren’t with USPS, you are simply shucking and jiving us.
The only reason USPS carries letters today is that it illegal for private carriers to perform the same task. A similar situation exists for Amtrack. Private carriers are forbidden by law from competing with Amtrak. I dare say that rail travel might just make a comeback, esspecially for trps of under 300 miles if there was no government monopoly.
Rand had it right when she said something to the effect of, An exploitative monopoly can only exist with government cooperation and sanction. In a free capatalistic economy a private monopoly will be able to be abusive only until a competitor or competitors emerge offering services at more favourable rates.
I would add that every long-lasting monopoly in history was established either by governments or by people working with the connivance of government.

That was very cruel Mr. Carter. Don’t you realize that quoting Ayn Rand to a government bureaucrat is like flashing a cross and splashing holly water on a vampire. The USPS not only dismissed me, they have disavowed all knowledge of me (just like in the man from U.N.C.L.E.) I sense a teachable moment here. How about getting together over beers? I’ll bring Joe Biden.
