It is really funny/sad that the Arab culture of low self esteem engrained in their males probably stems from the incident in ancient Neg’eb when Ishmael and Hagar were driven from the camp of Abraham. (No friends, I don’t know what kind of car. A camelero perhaps?)

Not necessarily the fact that they were made to leave the camp, but if Ismael was “poking fun” at Isaac, it makes me wonder if his mother Hagar had done the same to her son. And following the tenet of victimhood, Hagar lays the blame for exile at Abraham.

None the less, ~5000 yrs is a long damn time for Arabs to hold a grudge against the offspring of Jacob and take a portion of that frustration out on their women.
