The Daily Signal 

Medtronic, one of the world’s largest medical device companies, recently acquired Covidien for $42.9 billion in a move that will relocate headquarters from Minneapolis to Ireland.


The move is expected to save Medtronic $815 million annually by the end of 2018.

    “Medtronic’s aim in acquiring Covidien is to move its headquarters from the US to Ireland, where corporate tax is considerably lower. Corporate tax in the United States is 35%, the highest among the advanced economies, compared to Ireland’s 12.5%.”
