Michelle Obama Lowers Use of School Lunch Program, Students Refuse to Embrace the Suckage

n a shocking turn, Michelle Obama, as democratic FLOTUS, has actually caused a decrease in participation in school lunch program!  While decreasing participation in an entitlement is completely antithetical to a democrat, this is really a case of the “law of unintended consequences.”

But wait, there’s more! The Government Accountability Office (GAO) audited the program and found that more than 1 million children abandoned school lunches entirely.

Nationwide, student participation in the National School LunchProgram declined by 1.2 million students (or 3.7 percent) from schoolyear 2010-2011 through school year 2012-2013, after having increased steadily for many years… State and local officials reported that the changes to lunch content and nutrition requirements, as well as other factors, influenced student participation.

The GAO also noted that 48 of 50 states faced challenges complying with the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act.

The new standards led to kids throwing out their fruits and vegetables, student boycotts, higher lunch costs, and odd food pairings such as “cheese stick with shrimp” in order for schools to comply with the complicated rules…

The standards forced some schools to stop serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and led middle school and high school studentsto opt for vending machines or buying food off campus to avoid the lunch line…

And Michelle Obama was not elected or appointed to one damn thing. What and or who granted her this power?

I carried my lunch everyday to primary school.
    There was no lunchroom.
A Hershey bar had to last a week.
Walked to school, five miles, in the snow, uphill, both ways.

Wow, maybe we should look into the school lunch program and see if we really need it. I thought it was in place because kids were hungry. If you are truly hungry, you don’t throw food away, you eat it.

moochelle “the Sasquatch” odumbo is not an elected official, where is she getting this power to decide what our children eat? Did the commander in chimp sign an illegal executive order giving her this illegal power?

That took some effort. Even Oliver Twist wanted more gruel.

@ Susan, yes. I dealt with a LOT of students in decent neighborhoods who had stay at home moms who didn’t send their children to school having had breakfast, let alone a packed lunch. I don’t think it’s presumptuous to think it was because the offer of “free” school meals was pushed (my own brought home forms for it) and they were a bit lazy. None of those parents drove beater cars and their children weren’t dressed shabbily or lacking for fun tech either. So IMO, it is simply a deliberate disordering of parent’s priorities, which is one of the steps toward the state usurping their rights and responsibilities. Oh, and union power. This is one of the local issues writ large and early.

Besides, school meals are defacto institutional meals and rarely stray far from being swill. My apologies for insulting the cafeteria ladies.

I’ve eaten lunch at my grand kids school and it is total crap. Milk is either skim or 1%. How did we manage to eat the horrible food we ate as kids and be skinny as rails? There might be one fat kid per class. Oh we actually did move. We swam every day at the city pool. Parents NEVER drove us to “activities.” We played football, basketball or baseball with our buddies, depending on the season, and a parent or adult was nowhere about to supervise. You rode bikes and your dog could run along with you without a leash. Oh the horror!

@Ohio Dan, those days are gone forever, my friend.

If today’s parents allowed their kids to do what WE did as kids, the “authorities” would take them away.
Better they should stay in their rooms, and the only exercise they get is their thumbs.
It’s no surprise that so many are obese.

Liberals don’t care about results, just intentions. I predict they will soon force this nutrition crap on restaurants.

A perfect example of Libtard Central Planning That Failed. They follow the same damn blueprint for all their takeover plans: don’t think the plan through; fuck up its implementation; enjoy the outrage from the majority of people involved (the only ones who like the new rules are the parasites who are now getting more Free Shit); double down and implement more measures to force the unwilling to comply.

Do you think any Repubs will be able to make it clear to lofos that this is all they can expect when they elect Dumpocraps?

Why has this become such an issue? In junior and senior high school I ate cafeteria food daily because my mother didn’t like the idea of a brown-bag lunch sitting in an unrefrigerated locker for hours before I got to eat it. I usually got the day’s entree, but if I didn’t like it I could get a sandwich or a yogurt instead. The food was fine, I ate every bite, set a school record for the girls’ 600-yard dash, and ultimately got into an ivy league college.

And all without Michelle Obama cramming kale and tofu down my throat.
