“Who Are the Oath Keepers?”

The Real REVO

This is really a pretty well written, fair article. It’s well placed as well. Many police officers don’t know about the Oathkeepers organization. This does an excellent job of describing its founder, what they stand for, and the political flak they have been taking.

I think the Oathkeepers are the good guys. I also think that every effort to make their existence and their goals more well known is a good thing.

Painted as radicals and racists by some, this organization of law enforcement officers and military vets says its only purpose is to uphold the Constitution.

It started with Katrina. The sight of U.S. military troops, law enforcement officers, and armed government contractors seizing firearms from citizens in the aftermath of that terrible storm shocked the conscience of Yale constitutional law scholar Stewart Rhodes. That these actions were later recognized as wrong by the U.S. Supreme Court did little to assuage Rhodes’ concerns. The fact remained that an illegal precedent had taken place, and could well occur again; indeed, it appeared that that the seeds sown in Louisiana might not only take root, but germinate elsewhere, as well.  MORE

The Southern Poverty Law Center finds them troubling. I like them already.

I sonder what the Oath Keepers think about the martial law clamp-down in Boston, specifically the alleged gun confiscation which occurred in Watertown during the Tsarnaev rat hunt.

I’ve only heard good things about them and I’m to the right of Attila the Hun.

    Oath of Enlistment

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

I am an Oath Keeper. Your Oath NEVER expires! It’s time to keep it! If you are a military veteran then think seriously about joining Oath Keepers.

The Oath Keepers make me feel a lil better and safer in these troubling times. A retired police officer friend of mine told me about them a couple of years ago.

How many in MA that call themselves “Oathkeepers” even gave item #2 (above) a thought?
I believe many of them mean well BUT how many laws that they enforce and how many acts take place on a daily basis that are in direct contravention of the Constitution?
Where are the stories on any media, mainstream or otherwise, that tell of these “Oathkeepers” directly confronting any of the scandals that are happening now? Buehler…Buehler…?
It sounds nice and feels good.
Where is the action? What have they done to speak out directly on anything?
They put themselves in this position of being our “defenders.” When will they defend?

    When will they defend?

Probably when the rest of us will: not until they actually come for the guns and they are too smart for that which means we stay in a death spiral.
