If you want opportunity to reach any income bracket along with a very good possibility you will be what we call, part of the ‘middle class’, you also accept that you live in a society with ‘income inequality’..
If you prefer socialism or communism where there’s only 2 classes & equality is only found in the people’s shared misery, then you’re pretty darn pathetic IMHO.
Really it seems to me that people who get their panties in a bunch over such things are a sad group that spends far too much time being envious of other’s good fortune. You want more? WORK FOR IT! Stop looking for redistribution & create your own fortune.
This film is a disgusting display with the only purpose of creating class warfare & jealousy. Listen to this guys voice, good grief. They obviously want the people beg for shared misery!
Redistribution of wealth NEVER lifts up the poor.. Rather it makes EVERYBODY POOR! Sadly we let a Marxist public school indoctrination center teach a generation a lie.
You cannot “eat the rich” & have an economy that survives. Sorry libs, that’s life.

Oh yeah one more thing I’d like to add…
Every liberal / leftist should seriously read Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell… EVEN IF they took economics in college as so many now are so focused on Keynesian economics;(which was always only meant to be short term band-aid), that many graduates don’t even understand the basics of the basics anymore.
Sowell makes it so easy for anyone, even a total novice that sucks with numbers like me can grasp them with the way Sowell teaches. And he has more advanced lessons for after they get through the basics. It’s a lesson that can convert a leftist real quickly! ;-)
    OKIES I’m done!

    Then forget it.

I think this is the push behind union-controlled changes to public education; the aim to cut the bottom end off nonperforming/failing students’ grades and giving no one less than a “C-”. Additionally, there has been an effort underway for a long time to diffuse education to the point where all grades are subjective based on the argument that all learning is subjective–propped up by the argument that what is important to a given child depends upon their unique (read multi-culti) needs.

Once you eliminate a bar for educational performance you can successfully argue that all talent, intelligence and ambition are equal and are therefore entitled to equal reward. The Cultural Studies student who hasn’t any practical work skills is just as “important” to a society’s GDP as the person who takes a business risk. There will be no more admiration for the person who works hard and takes personal risks because the outcome of personal wealth generation will be no better than for the one who does not.

So if we focus on the far-left purple area which I would think to be the unworking poor, people “think” it is small, their “ideal” is to make it 4X larger, and the “reality” is that it is miniscule. Well then, yes this is a very interesting video.

This is 50 year-old Soviet propaganda, repackaged for sale to a new generation (or a stupid old one) as a “new” way to do things fairly.

No one mentions the mountains of bodies, inherent corruption, or massive loss of wealth across the board, including the poorest, who the communists claim to be so worried about.

    what people EARN is fair.

if lebron james has greater wealth it’s because he EARNS it.

the fair distribution of wealth is not an abstract IDEA or IMAGE; FAIRNESS is not EQUALITY of outcome.

giving people who EARN LESS more by taking away from people who EARN MORE is not fairness.

    it is TYRANNY.

This, and other charts the liberal elite use to influence libsheep, infers that there is a finite supply of wealth, and that the top earners are amassing their wealth at the expense of the lower and middle class.

    This is totally false!
Wealth is not finite, without government interference it is constantly growing.

First, there’s a difference between ‘money’ and ‘wealth.’

Second, the real question isn’t ‘what’ but ‘why?’

“The rich plan for three generations – the poor plan for Saturday night.”

When you look at how many people vote for democrats, you perceive that the real problem is intelligence distribution, not wealth distribution.

My guess is that wealth follows intelligence, drive, ambition, luck, and some other shit.

First of all he confuses “wealth” with “income.” Two entirely different things. Wealth is the summation of your assets minus your debts. Income is what you earn.

@ That Guy is correct. You can earn less than someone else and still become wealthy. How? Live on less than you make. It’s really that simple.

If you want more of it for yourself, quite worrying about how much some CEO is making, get off your ass and do something to grow more!

    Exactly, That Guy!

Spend a few hours listening to the Dave Ramsey show and hear the tales of people with 10′s of thousands of dollars of credit card debt and student loans into the 100′s of thousands. They make car payments that are as big as my mortgage payment and wonder why they’re broke. Duh!

I can’t say it better or more succinctly than Winston Churchill

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

The people who advocate marxist policies are willfully ignorant of the needless misery and death they cause every single time they are appiled.

In addition to Sowells’ book, also read The Creature From Jeckyll Island for background on how and why the US dollar is being debased. Very hard times are coming.

How taxes work – 10 Men Go To Dinner

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner and the bill for all comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing like they do now with the present income tax structure.

    The fifth would pay $1.

    The sixth would pay $3.

    The seventh would pay $7.

    The eighth would pay $12.

    The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 of the bill.

So that is what the ten men decide to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you all are such good customers I am going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20″. Dinner for the 10 men now costs just $80…

The group still wanted to pay the bill the same way that they paid their taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six men — the Paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everybody would get his “Fair Share”?

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to eat their meal…

So, the restaurant owner suggested it would be fair to reduce each mans bill roughly the same amount; and proceeded to work out the amounts each man would pay.

The fifth, like the first four now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth man now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings)

The seventh man now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings)

The eight man now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings)

The ninth man now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings)

The tenth man now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings)

Each of the six was better off then before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings…

“I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man “but he got $10″…

“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. Its unfair that he got ten times more than me!?”

“That’s true”, shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”

The nine men surrounded the tenth man and beat him up…

The next night the Tenth man did not show up for dinner, so the Nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half the bill!

And that Boys & Girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start eating overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier?

First of all, I agree with pretty much everyone’s comments here, and I am for Capitalism 100%. My only concern, if these graphs presented are accurate, we should all be afraid. If things are as lopsided as presented, these circumstances are what feed revolutions, the rise of Communism etc. Personally, I think most of the lower income folks are where they are as a product of their own poor and stupid behaviors, but without a truly vibrant and growing middle class, I fear for this country’s future. And I certainly don’t want government (or Obozo) re-balancing the equation, but if the middle class give up and side with the radicals, we are screwed!

I shut it off at about 40 seconds – then thought that maybe I was pre-judging the narrative – so I watched until about 1:16. I had enough. It was difficult to hear “distribute/ed/ion” multiple times, along with “equitable” and “unfairly.”

We don’t “distribute” wealth. Who cares if there is “inequality?” We don’t guarantee outcomes. If my neighbor becomes filthy rich, this is not “unfair” – it’s a good thing.

It means I can do it, too.

No sir, what’s “interesting” in your presentation is the “reality” that the total wealth of the United States in 2009 was $54 trillion. Considering that we’ll be $20+ trillion in debt when your hero leaves office should be, to any rational thinking person, far more frightening and unfair. And if your figures are true, America’s “ideal” perception of distribution isn’t even close to how true capitalism works. Nope. According to 9 out of 10 Americans(?) mentioned in your video, their “ideal” perception of wealth distribution couldn’t be any closer to socialim. Great. How’s that working out in Europe?
