Woman accuses Planned Parenthood of forcing her to have unanesthetized abortion, then botching the procedure
A 40-year-old Colorado woman is suing Planned Parenthood, claiming she received an abortion against her will and then suffered medical injuries when the doctor failed to fully remove the fetus from her uterus in the botched procedure.
Ayanna Byer said she only wanted the abortion procedure if she could receive anesthesia. When that was not available, the staff at the Colorado Springs clinic proceeded anyway despite her tears and protestations, according to the lawsuit filed in El Paso County on February 6.
The woman experienced pain and heavy bleeding after her abortion in October and later had to undergo emergency surgery for an infection she developed.
She is suing the abortion clinic and the doctor who oversaw her procedure.
