That’s a novel defense. This is in California, so the jury might acquit.

This was a big story more than 2 years ago. The idiots are finally in court and they are pleading idiocy.

Daily Mail

Oscar Hernandez is illiterate, has no high school degree and didn’t even finish elementary school, defense attorney Stanley Friedmand told jurors.

Hernandez and five former members of the Bell City Council are on trial, accused of stealing $1.3million in exorbitant pay from the working-class city of 35,000.

All six elected officials drew salaries of up to $100,000 for serving on boards that seldom met and accomplished little.

They’re not idiots. They knew exactly what they were doing. They raised property taxes and other local taxes in order to pay for their theft of public funds.

Even though local elected government positions are non-partisan, I found it very telling that the political affiliation of the defendants was not noted. I wonder what it is, hhhmmmmm….
