My understanding of the first scene was that the ones being executed were fellow soldiers but that they exhibited that they were not totally on board with everything that was going on. Potential threats to the whole game. Don’t know if I’m right about that.

I see that scene as what will happen to the useful fools if it gets that far.

I didn’t think it was too long. Maybe just not quite clear as to the gist.
I love Ayn Rand. I think she was brilliant. As a first Rand read, I recommened “We the Living.” Very powerful imagery.
In that novel she does a tremendous job of describing the takeover of Russia and the consfication of private property by the Bolshelviks. She also decribes how easy it might have been to stop them with the use of forceful resistance.

The danger I see is the attitude of people to deny what is happening and what the potential result is by beieving that “this could never hapeen to us”. These atrocities occured only decades ago and I’m sure progressed in what most perceived as very benign reforms by most of the populace.
We’re not smarter than they were and were much less smart that the crafters of the constitution were.
Out fortune is that we have not lived in “interesting times”.
Let’s not allow them to start.

Great vid, thanks for posting it! In one small German city that I know of the nazis simply came in and forcibly, immediately removed all authority (politicians). The SS, fully armed of course, took over the streets. Disagree and you died.

It happened within days. People were terrified, helpless, and hoped they wouldn’t attract attention. Simple as that.
