Dear Lord: As Dad

ain’t home to-night

I guess you’ll have to keep

Awake and see that

things are right

While I am fast asleep

But if you’re busy

and forget

To tend to what I have said

And burglars come

you needn’t fret

    My Dad bought a bolt action .22 rifle when he was 13.

    Just walked into Montgomery Wards and paid $13.00 for it. Walked out with it.

    That rifle is an heirloom now.

    My Dad did the same – a Savage bolt action. Bought it probably around 1925. I can’t recall if he ever said what store. He took it hunting after school and brought home dinner quite often. He said he shot enough squirrels to fill a room.
    I have it now, and it is still in fine shape.
