Every day, I wake up and start thinking about what is happening to our country and I feel that throat-constricting anxiety set in.

I don’t have a gun. I want a gun. I can’t afford a gun. If and when I do have money for a gun, I will only be able to get a gun if I turn into a criminal.

    I’ll stick with my slingshot.

When I think of gun registration, it reminds me of my days in the artillery. Before an artillery unit can bombard a target with all its guns, it has to register the target. This involves one gun firing a series of rounds while a forward observer calls in the needed adjustments of where the rounds fall until they are on target. Then all the gun crews in the battery adjust altitude and azimuth of their tubes and fire simultaneously on the target, known as “firing for effect.” I, however was an artillery surveyor in a missile unit and I coordinated an entire battalion of Lance missiles, using the sun, a theodolite and trigonometric computations with an armload of log, sine, cosine, etc. books of tables, so as to figuratively lay waste to East German targets during training exercises. So, yeah, I’m a gun registration kind of guy.

todak, I never knew they used the theodolite in such an application; how interesting. I do land surveying without having to use any trig tables; the total station or the data collector does all the math for you.
