Nice use of our tax dollars, there. ^
February 7th, 2013
Okay. This is just going to make me smoking mad.
Mary Jane Anklestraps
That looks like it’s from Hawaii.
Can we see the weed receipt? Somebody’s got the munchies.
Wait ! Make that two items. I see she also purchased some Arizona Green tea. Green tea helps
with tummy fat . LOL
for a second I thought that was Gov. Krispie’s lunch tab.
Thank goodness it’s just another parasite.
eternal cracker p
Be careful of those kit kats, eating them when the room is low-lit may result in a bloody finger.
Hey – cornnuts and funyuns are vegetables, right?
Seriously though. Why not just change Hawaii’s name to “High-wowie”. That place is now nothing but an entitlement 0bama ghetto. [I have friends born there who couldn't wait to leave. They said they escaped from "the rock". lol.]
Stranded in Sonoma
Excuse me. Since this was paid with an EBT, doesn’t that mean the entire bill is forgiven?
What the hell is “tax forgiven”? EBT folk don’t pay tax on junk food?
I just lost my job today. Yes, a little bummed. But one thing I did was sit down at my desk and figure out my budget. Where I could cut expenses and how to handle this on my own. One thing I refuse to do is go on food stamps. It is possible to make a budget and do what you need to do without expecting the government to pay for your food or you mortgage.
I wondered if it was for a party. *rolls eyes*
But then the items don’t add up- the bill should have shown more chips and more than one dip. lol.
BTW, just because something is 10/$10 does not mean you need to buy all 10.
White chocolate kit kats ? Where have I been?
OMG! Diann, I’m so sorry!
Arizona Watermelon Tea
Taste the rainbow!
@Diann — Sorry to hear you lost your job. I hope you find something soon. It’s been over a year for me, and being from CA it is doubly bad. But we never give up hope…
Is there a Honey Boo Boo marathon on this weekend?
You paid for it, it’s yours.
This is gonna be a long descent into chaos, it won’t be over in a year or two.
WH dinner menu?
Sorry to hear that Diann.
The “tax forgiven” thing caught my eye, too. Do you think the purchaser will write a thank-you note?
I thought Moochelle was back from her Hawaii vacation?
@Diann – Sorry to hear that!
When I explain the Tea Party platform of smaller government and lower taxes to my MSNBC addicted sister-in-law, her argument is, “Yeah, but you don’t mind getting Social Security and Medicare benefits!”
We have paid (a lot) into the system and deserve those benefits.
I would put EBT in the same category. You have paid a lot of taxes and should not be ashamed or too proud to take advantage of what YOU deserve.
Looks like she’s heading off to school to make a little change!
So very sorry to hear about losing your job. I hope that another job possibility comes up soon.
I admire your decision about the food stamps. Consider rethinking if–God forbid–it gets to the near-starving point, okay? Originally they were supposed to be a temporary “tide-over” until things improved. I’m certain YOU wouldn’t stay on them a moment longer than absolutely necessary.
Mal- Latin for bad
Really sorry to hear about that.
I hope that something comes your way real soon.
And no, I don’t mean EBT cards
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. I am blessed to have the old fashioned sense to SAVE MONEY. I do not want to blow thru my savings, but it is a blessing to know I am not a borderline pauper. I qualify for unemployment and will be going on that. My company of ten years pays into unemployment for this very reason.
This was coming and I knew it was coming, so I was prepared. I do have one kick-ass iron in the fire that kind of sprang from the ashes like a glorious phoenix. It is an amazing opportunity and if it gels I will probably crow about it endlessly in these here comment sections.
In the meantime, I join a very nonexclusive, overpopulated club. We will all survive this because we Conservatives are stronger than this. This is what keeps me hopeful.
sort of a bird theme going on here…
@ Diann sorry to hear about your job. After divorcing my cocaine addicted husband I had to get help for me and my 3 boys (food stamps and school for 8 months)…got marketable skills and never looked back. If you need it…take it. Your heart is right and that’s all that matters.
Diann, God bless you. I will pray that your opportunity works out.
prayers heading your way to get through this.
if you do apply for aid, be sure to wear an
“impeach obama” shirt. should move your application along faster.
Sorry about your job, but I wouldn’t hesitate to get on every program available to you. Your company didn’t pay your UE, YOU DID! Your wages would have been much higher without your employer paying into UE.
Take the EBT and squirrel food away if you don’t need it now, you may need it someday and the fact is YOU HAVE PAID for the EBT as well.
Never be ashamed at doing so, there is no moral obligation, it is perfectly LEGAL and there should be NO GUILT if this is a freak occurrence in your life.
Forgot to add my prayers and thoughts will be with you Diann. I found myself in a situation once where I was on the receiving end of help instead of giving it. We grew up taking responsibility for ourselves and taking care of others so it’s very hard when we have to accept it. But I will be praying for your opportunity and await hearing about it, but like others have said, that safety net is there for you if you need it. You paid into it just in case, that just in case is here now. Take care of yourself.
I quit eating candy in my late teens.
Worst part about this, is that we also pay for her health care after eating all the crap!
I recommend a book to everyone I meet in your situation – “knock-em-dead”. It’s a great book to help a person identify, organize and emphasize their marketable skills into a kick-butt resume. It is available at most public libraries or internet booksellers.
It's your tax dollars
I have worked my ass off for 30+ years. If I lost my job and needed government assistance I would gladly take it. I have been paying taxes forever. Damn right I would get on the gravy train. That is what it’s for. It’s nut for turds who game the system since birth. It is a safety net.
Rush Limbaugh always says that if you have a passion for something, then do it. Don’t wait around for someone to ask you to do it. If you have a passion for something you make it happen.
I’m taking El Rushbo’s advice.
Good wishes coming your way @Diann.
In the meantime, I am going to see Mike Huckabee at Syracuse University tonight.
bubba wonder how much that person weighs.
They need an EBT card so they won’t feel stigmatized for using Food Stamps.
Like any normal person shops like that…..
Shouldn’t Moose be monitoring how these people eat?
She’s all over the school kids’ diets…why not these “unfortunate” souls?
BTW, I think I gained five pounds and fifty cholesterol points just reading that mess.
Sorry Diann. Also hate to be the bearer of bad news but if the system is still set up like it was when my husband broke his back and neck at work, we didn’t qualify for food stamps because he made too much money the year before.
Are you KIDDING me?!?
Chips Ahoy original @ 2 for $5.00 and that idiot only got one bag?
Back to the store B!tch and get my cookies!
One Notch Above a Congresscritter
Go for the food stamps. Maybe one of the professional leaches will go hungry for a while.
Carlos The Jackal
I haven’t bought that much crap food ……in my life.
@Diann Sometimes you don’t know you can fly until the perch gets yanked away.
Open doors and windows are always there – we just choose not to explore the possibilities when we got something going on already.
You follow your heart by doing what makes you happy. The hard part should be asking to be paid for something you’d do for free.
Having that problem should be a sign you’re doing it right.
Best of luck. I’m sure you’ll see more and more opportunities as you go.
As for this shopper -
#1. I have a shiny new dime to bet that Diet Coke is on that list too!
#2. Is she trying to get more disability income by becoming diabetic?
My teeth hurt just thinking about all that sugar.
@Diann — So sorry to hear your news, but I know you are prepared to overcome this setback and emerge stronger and more successful than ever!
You are strong, determined and Conservative.
You go, girl!!!!
We got your back.
This is just plain wrong!! We try to find the humor in it just so we won’t go insane. It’s bad enough that tens of millions of dollars are being cashed out on EBT cards and that these parasites are going on vacations that me and thee can no longer afford, but when the program is set up so that there is absoutely no oversight on what people are buying it guarantees this kind of buying. After all it’s not their money, is it?
This just pisses me off!
Nothing to be ashamed of Diann. Apply for EBT. Being one who worked all your life it will be an experience you may want to write about. Usually these cards are passed down from generation to generation. Think of yourself as a pioneer.
Good luck and god Bless.
Do you think this person would spend so extravagantly if it was her checkbook instead of an EBT card?
Reminds me of a certain lobster-scarfing first lady…
Ohh Diann. I’m so sorry to hear about your job, but you say you were anticipating the kick. Good on you for being an adult and planning ahead.
A lot of times, this leads to much better outcomes if you’re poised to grab onto an idea or situation. It sounds like you’re on that path. Best of luck you you. I look forward to reading your crowing.
“tax forgiven” wtf?
