Child who says he was spanked by Dollar General clerk describes ‘torture’

WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. — A Dollar General employee arrested in Wrightsville last week for hitting a child with a belt has now been charged with two felonies, aggravated assault and cruelty to children. The charges were upgraded from simple battery because according to the police chief, store video shows the woman hitting the 8 year old at least 25 times.

After initially saying they were looking into the details of the case before acting, Dollar General told 11Alive News Monday afternoon the employee, Emilia Graciela Bell, had been fired. “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the reported incident at our store in Wrightsville, Georgia,” read the statement, “And have expressed our sincere apologies to the child’s family.”

Investigators have not yet released the video, but the boy’s family told WMAZ Macon over the weekend it shows a “beating,” not a spanking.

“It was more or less a beating than a spanking the way she was hitting him,” said Jody Ivey, the father of 8 year old Logan Ivey.  “I don’t know how to explain it, and I don’t want to think about it.”

Logan said it was very painful.

“I felt like I had five needles sticking in me; it really hurt, I was screaming ‘Mama,’” he said. “And I was crying real bad because she [the clerk] had actually hurt me…when she stopped whipping me my pants were actually a little bit warm.”

Wrightsville Police Chief Paul Sterling said Logan was running around in the store and got into a confrontation with Bell, 39.  Bell told investigators that Logan threw a cookie at her and that’s when she removed her belt, chased the boy down and spanked him behind the counter.

“It felt real real painful; nobody should have that kind of torture to them,” Logan said. “It really hurts.”

The boy’s mother and sister, who were also in the store, did not witness the spanking, according to the chief.

After the lawsuit they’ll have to change the name of the store to the Ten Dollar store.

That kid’s a troublemaker – it all started when he tried to pay 99 cents for some deer nuts, claiming they were under a buck…

If the mother and sister were in the store, why was the kid unsupervised?
Not defending the employee, but I wouldn’t let my kid wander off like that.

…the employee, Emilia Graciela Bell, had been fired…

Since someone is going to have to replace her, is this an 0bama-SAVED job or an 0bama-CREATED job?

Unseasonably warm weather is ‘global warming’
Perverted and deviant sex is ‘love’
Cutting down trees is ‘raping’ the earth
    Conservatives are ‘fascist’ and ‘nazis’
    Visual obscenities is ‘art’

    Spanking is ‘torture’

God I’m so sick and tired of words being over used in every friggin circumstance.

Brother Valentine did a lot worse when we were misbehaving as kids. It use to be that any member of society could rebuke a insolent child in public…you know…it takes a friggin village?

This is a FELONY? the only thing that got bruised is the kid’s ego!

Today adults are held hostage to unruly, insolent, vulgar and defiant children that run amok in public.

Spanking a child is a felony; what does that make aborting a child? ….oh right…legal

These precious little snowflakes can do no wrong

I remember when I was a kid (oh, gracious, don’t you hate when older people say that?) I was misbehaving in public and a total stranger gave me a swat on my fanny.

You know what the outcome was? I stopped misbehaving in public.

    I know. It’s a wonder I wasn’t scarred for life.

But you DID end up hanging around with a rebellious, anti-establishment crowd – right here! :)

Because “torture” is a vocabulary word for an 8 year old. Defense counsel should ask the Future Punks of America candidate to spell it.

The little bastards “parents” should be in jail for abandonment. They both admitted they didn’t even know where the little bastard was. Didn’t even know he was getting the spanking he deserved but that they did not have the balls to give. The little bastard probably threatened to turn them in if they spanked him. They learn that shit in the indoctrination centers.
