Private High School Starting Random Drug Testing of Students
Kansas City high school will begin collecting hair from students to conduct mandatory drug tests.
KHSB-TV reports that Rockhurst High School will start the random drug testing during the 2013-14 school year.
“Our point is, if we do encounter a student who has made some bad decisions with drugs or alcohol, we will be able to intervene, get the parents involved, get him help if necessary, and then help him get back on a path of better decision making, healthier choices for his life,” Rockhurst Principal Greg Harkness told the station.
The ACLU, though, believe school drug testing is a waste of time and money.
“Nothing prohibits it,” Doug Bonney, legal director for the ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri, told the Star. “But it is a colossal waste of money.”
Private schools are allowed to test all students while public schools are restricted by the Fourth Amendment.

Ohhh, the poor poor ACLU. Can’t stick their foaming muzzles up the private schools arse. What a shame. They can only sit back and glumly state what a waste of money it all will be testing kids for drugs. Pffft. Like those shitheels ever knew thing one about how not to waste money.
Anyway, aside from all that, Rockhurst High sounds like my moms school. Except for the drug testing part. I sense this troubles you, Fur. Do tell.

Troubles me?
I posted it for the exact reason you pointed out. If you go to the original article I deleted a bunch of stuff to get to the money shot – The ACLU’s Butthurt.
I am a proponent of private institutions doing what they want with their company (but it doesn’t mean they would be immune from legal protest), and a big fan of frustrating the ACLU, an organization that is not for civil liberties, but for pursuing a specific political agenda.

It’s a private school. You’re free to take your business elsewhere if you won’t submit your kid’s hair for drug testing.

My son graduated from Rockhurst High School two years ago. It’s a Jesuit school who’s motto is “Men for Others” and it turns out quality young men. It is a wonderful school and community. They are doing this or all the right reasons…for the well being of their students. You can be assured that they have the support of parents. Go Hawklets!!

My daughter goes to a private Catholic school. They tell you up front they do random drug testing. That’s one of the reasons she’s there. Haven’t had any problems at the school so far. But then again, we’ve got four more years to go through (one starts next year).

@BFH, thanks, I was worried that some of my off-the-mark comments might offend you.
I had to pop the left lens out of my computer glasses until I can get a new pair. I’m thinking about buying two different strength pairs of reading glasses at walmart that have identical frames so I can put the two together to make one pair of computer glasses and not have to pay for an eye exam and expensive glasses. This would cost, what, $36?
