McCain – “Republicans Most Become More Like Progressives To Win Elections”
That’s not a direct quote. It’s an oblique quote.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said that the Republican Party has to accept a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants as part of an immigration-reform package.
McCain said on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday that a group of bipartisan senators would be announcing “principles” on immigration reform this week, which he said was similar to a plan unveiled during President George W. Bush’s second term that ultimately failed.
“Look at the last election,” he said. “We are losing dramatically the Hispanic vote, which we think should be ours for a variety of reasons, and we’ve got to understand that.”

How fricken lame is that? Have they completely lost their minds????
If the stupid Republicans become more like “progressives” they will lose every SINGLE fricking election. I damnwellguarantee it.
And they should.

Hmmm. I can’t quite grasp it. It’s just beyond my ability. Buuut, me thinks McLame, may not be all that conservative. I could be wrong.

It’s a combination of laziness and not being able to articulate conservatism – perhaps because one never really was. The GOP would be stupid to follow McCain’s advice…

How many years has this guy gotten it wrong now?
I think those years as a prisoner of war did some serious damage to his way of thinking.

It didn’t work for McCain when he ran in 2008. Why should it work for anyone else?

Let’s focus on the other “variety of reasons.” Like offering them freedom and capitalism.

Rubio’s approach on immigration/AMNESTY is little different from Obama’s…or even Gingrich’s proposal during the primaries.

You hate to say anything bad about Juan because of what he endured in Hanoi at the hands of communists. Then again, he is the man who lost the presidency to a communist by trying to out-Marx him.
There’s a commonality here.

Just more evidence that the people running the GOP are completely devoid of imagination and anything resembling a philosophical foundation.
If the GOP becomes like the progressive, then they’ll just be half-assed progressives that actual progressives hate and would never vote for and who conservatives would stop voting for. McCain is showing the same marketing prowess that caused him to get his ass kicked in 2008.

I went to the Social Security office to get a new card, I honestly think that I was the only one there who spoke english, and they had this large flat screeen t.v. to announce the services that are offered, you want to guess what language. My point is that America in the past was known to be a melting pot where immagrants come to escape tyrany and poverty and in return assimilate into our culture in hopes of obtaining the American dream. Today aliens come illegaly for free stuffs that has been offered them by politicians in return for votes. Where in how do the American people benefit.

The point is, John, it isn’t about “winning elections” it’s about what is best for the country.
You have tried out-democrating the democrats to win elections. YOU FAILED. You failed the nation.
The sooner you RINOs figure this out the sooner you’ll win.

Maybe, if he means Republicans should campaign the way Obama did, and lie their asses off about what they really believe in, and speak in lofty rhetoric that means absolutely nothing, just to get elected, so they can then secretly spring their agenda on unsuspecting voters. Yeah, let’s do that!

I watched that this morning, and just had to shake my head. He still thinks conservatives are not liberal enough to win elections…the man needs a drool cup. The amazing part (if he is being honest, which I doubt) is that he has no recolection of how fast his friends in the media tossed him under the tandem tires of every bus within 3,00 miles as soon as he won the nomination.
I wonder, if he were asked if conservatives should start supporting free abortions for everybody if that is what it took to win elections, would he say yes? U suppose he would…It is all about winning right?
Why is it that so many fall for the message that conservatives are anti immigrant anyway? We are not! We just expect that open boarders is not good for our country and letting in millions of new government dependent non-producers is unsustainable….Oh, that’s right, the liberal media is telling the world what the conservative view is, not us…
We must remeber how bam-bam got reelected…If the rich just paid their fair share, all poor people would be better off…

I voted for Palin in the hopes that the excitement of winning would have made her President almost immediately. Instead we’ve got the worst of both worlds.

We pleaded for help to boot him out of the Senate last time, but he pulled his same old trick – go HARD right at home in AZ for the win and then it’s back to DC for the Progressive Follies.

how does this dick explain the 2010 midterms? NO the way to WIN ELECTIONS is to have an actual platform that excites your CONSERVATIVE BASE, instead of believing they will vote for the lessor of two evils….voter turnout sucked 2012.

And what would be the point of holding elective office in a country tht no longer exists? Total idiocy! Calling for opening all borders and shredding the Constitution in 4..3..2…
I’ve hearch that the “senator” has massive ranchland holdings in AZ and that he employs lots of immigrants to do the “work that Americans won’t do” there. Anyone here from AZ who can address that rumor?

Palin did what she had to do out of loyalty when she endorsed him. Now is the time for the Tea Partiers and real conservatives in his district to quietly take over the local pary apparatus and if he decides to run contest his nomination with a real conservative. They should be doing this with every rino in the Senate and Congress. 2014 will be the perfect year for the barn cleaning. Democrats everywhere will be vulnerable as the economy slows, taxes rise and Obama executive orders start to stick in the craw of every citizen.
