Obama: Creating or Saving Bush Billboards!

Image Courtesy of Minnesota Public Radio
It seems as if someone in Minnesota is is feeling that whole absence makes the heart grow fonder thing. Or else they, you know, realize that Obama is a huge failure. Now, if only Minnesota would apologize for that whole Al Franken deal.
Of course, some immediately tried to claim that the billboard, featuring President George Bush and the words “Miss Me Yet”, was an internet hoax and some sort of photo shop. See, because George Bush is evil and all. NPR reports that it’s not!
But our friend Bob Collins at Minnesota Public Radio assures us he’s seen it with his own eyes:
There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: “Miss Me Yet?”
Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.
Bob says there’s no readily apparent claim of ownership on the billboard, so he’s heading back to the scene to see if he can find out who’s behind the message. He’s also got some local politicos looking into it. He’ll keep us posted.
Man, I miss that little smirky grin. Too bad Obama didn’t “inherit” that, instead of the lame “I’m super serious” face and nanny finger wagging.

Has foreign policy changed since our last Decider?
Has deficit spending changed since our last Decider?
Do we still have warrant-less wire tapping?
Can the POTUS still lock people in cages forever on his say-so?
Is the Patriot Act still intact?
Can fedGov agents still write their own search warrants?
Were you comfortable with the power The Decider gave himself?
Are you comfortable with the current Decider using the same power?
Has borrowing and spending continued?
Is the Federal Reserve still printing money “out of thin air”?
Have the bailouts continued since 2008?
Were you comfortable when The Decider made war on Afghanistan and Iraq without a Congressional declaration of war?
Are you comfortable with our current Decider making war on Pakistan without a Congressional declaration of war?
Now, if he can get the votes to destroy our health care system and the other crap he wants to destroy, then I can say the jackass and his jackass Congress have done something new.
Hey, I know Odambam is a turd, and has spent tons more moolah than any other US CONGRESS but I’m just askin’ what has really changed, besides umm cosmetic things?
Spending: see Constitution US, Congress controls spending

Zonga,
Cosmetic things? Seriously? Okay, I know you hate Bush and you hate Obama equally. But there is most certainly a difference between the two. Never in the history of this country has the will of the people been utterly disregarded. Never have our “impartial” news media abdicated their role as completely as they have today. Was Bush perfect? No. He was not close to being conservative enough. But to say that it is merely a cosmetic change in the face of all that has happened in the last twelve months leaves me mystified.
Zonga
February 9th, 2010
What has changed Diann? That is the question.
The turd want to change lots of things, help me see the change that has been done so far.
Changes so far:
Congress has spent us into the next two generations?
There is another front in the war on a tactic?
Zonga

The turd has escalated Afghanistan, that has changed somewhat.

I suggest you read “American Alone” by Mark Steyn. And no, I’m not suggesting a book by Mark Steyn simply because I want to marry him. So, as Lori says, shaddap.
I believe in strength through superior firepower both figuratively and literally. To have a president who traipses around the world exposing his hind quarters to everyone makes this country weak and in danger. Have a President who opening loathes not only our nation, but its people is not only terribly sad, but frankly pretty scary.
Oooh. And read this article from American Spectator, http://spectator.org/archives/2010/02/09/while-america-slept

I’m with Zonga. There is much to despise about 0 personally, his arrogance and condescension at the top of the list. But what policies of W’s (and Slick’s, and Lip Readee’s) have changed?
0’s health care effort? Can you say “Prescription Drug Benefit”? That was championed by W and took place on his watch.
Hideously stupendous deficit spending and monetary inflation and financial crony bailouts? Started before Jan. 2009.
The problem is the power. The President’s – whoever it is – power is almost unlimited, and so is the corruption. Acton was right.

The essay by Andrew Roberts expresses the fear that US hegemony will fade. He has pointed out that Odambam has allowed that other nationalities feel they have their own “exceptionalism” but really, Roberts’ position is that true “exceptionalism” is a unique attribute of the English speaking countries, specifically England and the USA, and excluding English speaking India.
Andrew Roberts seems to suggest that it is up to the Americans to make China retreat from her power. Is that even realistic?
China is heavily invested in Iran, and we are threatening Iran, and Iran is threatening everybody. Would US hegemony dictate war with Iran? It seems like we are on track for that, doesn’t it?
Diann, have we quit building military bases in Afghanistan, Iraq, and around the world? Uncle Sam has had and continues to have over 740 military bases around the world.
Has the turd pulled out of any war yet? No. Has he said he will? Yes. Is he a liar? Yes.
Is our goal to build a pipeline through Afghanistan? Yes. Weren’t the anthropologists and social workers sent into Afghanistan before 2009? Don’t we still have thousands of mercenaries on the ground in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, and so on?
Do you see our hegemony fading? Beyond Odambam’s cosmetic blather, the action and force of the USA does not seem to have diminished, has it?
The turd wanted to have a show trial in NY City, well he isn’t going to get it. He has been stopped. And he has been stopped in almost every thing he has tried to do, except for cronyism and congressional spending. And what administration has not practiced cronyism?
FedGov has increased by 10% with the turd as far as I know. The turd has appointed more Tsars and they have turned out to be nothing but socialists. Some have been weeded out. There are a lot of Clinton retreads in the administration.
Looking at actions and not words I don’t see much change. But here’s the rub, how much longer can we pay the bills to maintain hegemony?

And, I want to add, that we have seen Odambam bossed around by his generals and the Secretary of Defense. Continuity in personnel from the last administration, no?

Mr. Zonga,
If you don’t notice any change in the U.S. since the genesis of the Obamanation, I suggest you look at unemployment figures, proposed taxes on farmers, the so-called stimulus package that was brokered under Bush but stolen by Obama, the proposed cap and trade which will cost this country trillions, the loss of “face” which allows every third-rate satrap to thumb it’s nose, a nuclear-armed Iran, national / socialist healthcare haunting the political landscape, and the suicide of the fourth estate. I try to remind myself that this is a satirical site, but … gee whillikers, some things just ain’t funny. Check out the S & P from when BO’s campaign started getting traction.

Diann,
“American Alone” by Mark Steyn
I haven’t read the book, I read several detailed reviews at Amazon. There are over 500 reviews.
Steyn states that Muslim immigrants reproduce at a much higher rate than European natives and threaten the culture of countries like Spain and France. I have read similar essays from writers in England. I understand that this is happening. They are small socialist countries, where Christianity is waning. Oh yes, even England is socialist.
Steyn urges us (the USA) to prevent a Muslim take over in our country and strike the “Virus of Islam” in Iran, or where ever we find its malignancy, including but not limited to preemptive war.
Steyn’s ideas about preemptive war have been described as “The Bush Doctrine.” Flat out, I’m not a fan of perpetual war.
If our government protects our God given rights and the rule of law then we should be alright.
I do see a Mexican illegal immigrant “virus” though.

Tim,
I listed specific no change zones, you have pointed out some areas of change, thank you.
Unemployment began to rise in July of ‘08.
http://www.tradingeconomics.com/Economics/Unemployment-rate.aspx?Symbol=USD
Cap and trade, socialist healthcare, have been proposed, neither have passed. I don’t think either will be passed before the jackasses are voted out of office. Odambam will be a lame duck starting this year.
The S&P 500 was negative and getting worse during ‘08. In September of ‘08 banking crashed and TARP was passed. The economy was finally pushed off the cliff at that time. I agree Odambam’s spending through Congress has made everything worse.
http://allfinancialmatters.com/2008/09/29/a-quick-review-of-the-sp-500-2008-monthly-total-returns/
The US losing “face” due to Odambam’s apology tour is true, there is no denying that he is a turd.
Nobody that I know of is claiming that Iran has nuclear weapons now. I did point out that we are on the road to war with Iran. We have been on that road since before the turd was elected.
If this site is dedicated only to satire then I should never point out some of the blind spots some have. Being a conservative member of my county’s Republican Central Committee, I thought an occasional serious discussion along with the satire would be OK.

zonga, i don’t think there are too many of us who mind some serious discussion of things, but i also don’t understand your point. are you trying to say that zerO is not that bad, or that bush was really bad?
and to what end?
Chris
February 9th, 2010
Mark, I think what he’s saying is each successive administration has, in one way or another, been a stepping stone toward a more powerful government, with the exception of President Reagan.
Can you honestly say that any of them down the line has relenquished any significant power back to local government, or the people?
Government intrusion into a persons life is at an all time high.
How about those 40 or so thousand new laws on the books every fricken year?
Anyone ask you about those?
So yeah, it’s been going on, insidiously, for a long time; however, I have to say that obamas presidency has shown an unprecedented contempt both for the American people and its job of representing them.
And no, I don’t like the arrogant, bowing weasel personally, either.

Mark,
Bush turned out not to be a conservative, though he campaigned on a conservative platform.
What Bush and his congress left in place is still in place, Odambam has not changed our foreign policy, nor our domestic policy. Our domestic policy changed dramatically after the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
National health, cap and trade will never happen. When the congress critters even got close to passing it the people rebelled.
Obambam even kept Bernanke on the job.
I believe we can work within the system and we are due to get some conservative leaders in our government.
What I was trying to point out was that everything has not changed since the turd took office.

@zonga
bush did get crazy in the last years, when dems took over he still signed damn near everything put in front of him. as well, it was pretty progressive of him to put together no child left behind and prescription drug program (maybe the stress of so much hate got to him).
but i think the only reason we dont have health care is because the dumb asses in the WH went for the stimulus first. i think if he had gone for health care first, we would have both and maybe cap and trade just on momentum.

You might be right, national health might have stood a better chance before the stimulus – but the cronies had to be paid off first.
I think the people would have rebelled even if the turd had tried national health right out of the gate.
People are fed up with with tax and spend and borrow and print money and nanny government.
People are also tired of the government trying to scare them all the time.

February 10th, 2010
Mr. Zonga,
I’ve no desire to start a large political dialogue on a satire blog. I just want to point out that if you believe nothing has changed with the election of this committed socialist, you live in a different country than I. The farmers around here are getting their teeth kicked in – only ADM will be left. Home prices have dropped by roughly 50% – land is picking up a little, but not much. People’s homes are being sold at the courthouse every week. There is a general uneasiness that permeates every conversation and words like “treason” and “revolution” pop up. I don’t speak for the “pee-pul” but I think we’re closer to losing our republic than I can recall – and I survived Carter and Clinton. The whole middle East isn’t worth the bones of a single American (to borrow from Frederick the Great) and Iran can boil in nuclear pork offal for all I care. BO is a socialist who has surrounded himself with socialists who don’t respect the Constitution or the United States – it’s both obvious and bad for the United States.
