Liberals have said that Thomas Jefferson was not a
Christian, but rather an atheist or at best a deist.
A deist is someone who believes that God created the
universe, then just sat back and let ‘nature’ take its
course without his interference.
One belief of Jefferson’s that is unquestionable, was
that government should be very limited and strictly
governed by the Constitution. Liberals hate this
philosophy. In his ‘Notes on the State of Virginia’
he wrote “And can the liberties of a nation be thought
secure when we have removed their only firm basis, A
CONVICTION IN THE MINDS OF THE PEOPLE THAT THESE

“…a gift of God”? This one quote seems to debunk
liberal atheist big government spin that Jefferson is
one of theirs. Jefferson was no atheist nor a
deist. Pray tell, how do you tremble at something you don’t
believe exits and why tremble if God is not going to
‘interfere’ in our lives?

The progressive claptrap about Jefferson’s religious standing, particularly the highbrow explanation of deism, is laughable. I often wonder: If atheist activists are fearful of Jefferson’s belief in a living and intervening God, I hope I’m still walking the earth at the Rapture. The reaction will be priceless.
I may have mentioned that I’m reading Gordon S. Wood’s “The Idea Of America” in which he writes about the history of the study and writing of American history. Most legitimate historians know and have debunked the progressive tract. It is a widely held view that progressive telling of history was the story of digging around looking for disconnected bits in order to support a contemporary social justice agenda. That’s why only leftists take Howard Zinn seriously.
Here’s a pithy quote from Wood’s book (quoting Bernard Bailyn):
“There is always a need to extract from the past some kind of bearing on contemporary problems, some message, commentary, or instruction to the writer’s age, and to see reflected in the past familiar aspects of the present.” But without “critical control” says Bailyn, this need “generates an obvious kind of presentism, which at worse becomes indoctrination by historical example,”

@AbigailAdams — This liberal rewrite of history is how we got a right wing Hitler, a right wing KKK, and a left wing devoted to blacks and civil rights.
It’s also similar to their lack of critical control in the sciences. Liberals claim to be slaves to the scientific method but all of “their” theories have nothing to do with science. They’re just stories of how something may have happened or will happen. Except there is no proof.
When you listen to real scientists or real academics you realize they regard the liberal mind with something akin to instinct-driven ganglia.

Re-writing history is absolutely essential to the existence of socialism. If the reclining peasants get off their asses and turn off the TV long enough to actually learn a few things, it becomes apparent in short order that socialism is both fraud on the part of the masters, and foolishness on the part of the slaves. The socialists must re-write the history on a continual basis because they never know when one of the slaves will awaken.
