Love the comments on facebook:
So the CEO of Whole Foods called Obamacare “fascism” on NPR. I honestly don’t think I’ll shop there again. I hate to be so personal, when it’s a big store chain mostly populated with great employees, but….dunno. I don’t think I can put any more money in this asshole’s pocket.
He’s outted himself as a dick on many occasions. This is just the most recent of several.
Face it… most CEOs are dicks.
you know, I’ve ignored a bunch of things he’s said because a. I believe very much in organic food and supporting organic producers and b. Whole Foods are major job providers (decent jobs too) and generally good for communities but man…seriously, the board of Whole Foods should can that guy. He should step down. He is ruining everything their brand stands for–or at least what their customers WANT them to stand for. Well, I think I will wage my own personal boycott for the time being.
Personally, I think you should judge the company by its corporate actions and leave the CEO’s personal political beliefs aside out of respect for a) his and everyone’s right of free speech and b) the democratic necessity of a diversity of opinions. We liberals are all for diversity until it comes to speech. Odd, that.
Did you see him on CBS This Morning. It was…an oddly disconnected interview. He’s a vegan but he thought fascism was the wrong word but he’s a capitalist but he opposes Obamacare.
