And then THIS MORON
He’s not gonna let the guy get ‘the drop” on him. But Barney Fife leaves the weapon on the hood of the car while he goes in the back to get his clipboard.
And this debate on the street between a citizen and 4 cops.

‘to protect and serve’ is a motto has loss its meaning as many neither protect nor serve.
I really am curious how many in law enforcement will happily fight against the civilian population when the social order collapses and there is another civil war?
Far too many I suspect.

That cop is an idiot. Nothing happened the way he described. I hope the video evidence from his own vehicle camera exonerated the citizen and served as proof the cop needs re-training. He’s dangerous.

He should be fired. He appears mentally unfit to preform his job without putting the people he took an oath to protect in danger.
So do cops have to go through a physiological background check because the on in the second video should?
I won’t lose any sleep if I read about him being killed “in the line of duty” especially if he is going to act as judge and jury when he makes an arrest.

In both instances the cop screwed up, that’s why they got so angry.
In scene 1 the cop screwed up by asking the driver to exit the car before asking if he had any weapons on him. This not only includes guns, but knives, throwing stars or syringes.
in scene 2 the cop was too busy playing “my wife is fucking the neighbor so I’m a tough guy” that he forcefully demanded answers. He didn’t allow the guy or the other passengers to say anything.

OK, the Florida deputy overreacted, but lesson number one in a Florida CCW class is that the permit is for a concealed weapon. It must be and remain concealed; even the shape cannot be visible through clothing.
Holster-toting driver took a little too much for granted.

@Jack Daniels – I second both of your comments. Those were the first two thoughts that went through my mind.
I know that the criminal element is infinately worse than they were 30, 40 years ago, but the burden is still on the cops to make the appropriate assessment of the threat they are facing and respond accordingly. Neither of those two assholes did that.

Now we get into what the word ‘conceal’ means. However, I don’t find any wording on the NRA/Florida website stating whether there is open carry (as in holstered). Everything mentions only ‘concealed’. Also, not on this website but googling, it doesn’t sound like FL has a law stating that you must inform police that you have a weapon, only if asked.

No getting around the dick factor for police here, but the first thing you must do with police if carrying concealed is notify them. That being said the police seem to be moving more and more toward just being another gang.

Cop is a dick, especially the crack about shooting him in the back.
Just be careful as a CCW carrier, and make every effort to help the cop to stay cool.
A friend of mine was pulled over for a tail light broken, and the cop saw his ccw license and asked him if he was carrying. He did not have his gun at the time, and the cop (state trooper) encouraged him to carry all the time.

Is New Orlean a “private property”?
In the third video, the cop says, ‘yes, Lousianna is an open-carry-state, but New Orleans is a private property, and I’m the only one who can carry a gun ’round here.’
Did I miss something?
I is lost.
WTF?

You have to ask yourself, “Do I feel lucky today?”
On one hand you leave your CW at home and risk finding yourself in a situation where you are threatened by a criminal.
On the other hand you carry your CW and risk finding yourself in a situation where you are threatened by a cop.
What is one to do? Weigh your chances. Do you want to deal with the un-uniformed gang, or do I want to deal with the uniformed gang.
Either way you could end up dead. That’s the problem you have whenever you venture into gang territory.
Who promised you that life was going to be fair?
Stirrin the B.S.
January 17th, 2013
@Dagney – the reference to New Orleans and private property meant that New Orleans’ local laws superseded the state open carry law, and that private property owners can declare their property to be gun free – which means the only person allowed to carry a gun onto that property is a cop.

Thanks, Stirrin’, for a perfectly clear explanation.
I guess those private property owners must post a ‘gun free zone’ sign or something, in order to warn the CCW folks, err, not to come on their premise with their awesome firepower.

I tend to agree with Boobie. The guy should not have exited the vehicle unless asked by the officer and he should have notified the officer he was CCW and was armed. Having said that, the officer should have excercised a little discretion with the permit holder and not acted like an ASSHOLE! Each state has different laws covering the subect. I am not clear about Fla but, here in Tenn the permit is a Hand Gun Permit, not Concealed. In other words, we can carry open or concealed. If you carry open, you may invite too much attention and that can lead to complications.
Yall’ be careful now, ya hear?

Exactly. The way the conversation should have started is “Hi Oscilator, I’m carrying, I have a permit.”
The officer is a dick. CCW holders need to be sure not to let them be dicks. And there’s a lot of them out there. Also, who drives with your gun stashed there? That’s gotta hurt after a while.

The Canton Ohio, Stark County Police dept is very poorly trained, seems to be a collection of thugs. Stark County is probably prime recruitment area for BATFE officers.
In 2008 the police were summoned to a domestic assault. The woman who was attacked ended up being arrested, then forcibly striped in a jail cell by both male and female officers. I’m sure it was an accident that the most damning video tape turned up missing.

Bad Brad, that video was of Hope Steffy. Due to the publicity of her incident another woman, Elizabeth, came forward with her story of being treated similarly in the same jail. I believe some others too.
Interestingly another video #4, about strip searches in Stark Co jail states it is cruel and unusual punishment for terrorists caught on the battle field to be stripped nude and it is forbidden in the field manual. Guess its ok in Stark Co, Ohio for attractive women after they are judged to be suicidal.
Point is be careful if legally carrying a fire arm. Many police, sheriff departments are staffed by rogue bullies. Maybe the good officers cant filter out the bad ones.
btw – There was an incident ( not in Ohio) resulting in the death of a neighbor by an off duty State Trooper in his own car. He was driving at an estimated 130mph+ on a 55mph highway. This trooper kept getting transferred to new barracks due to bullying. He liked to pick fights at the local bars when off duty. If he won the fight that was the end of it. If he got his ass kicked there was always a reason a week later to arrest the winner, during the arrest the prisoners always resisted arrest and were badly beaten until they submitted. Why do you suppose that happened?
This incident and his harassment of witnesses during the investigation was the last straw. No more a State Trooper. A few years later this man was an BATF officer at Waco. He’s still a member. I hold the BATF in low esteem because I know what this man was like and from various BATF misadventure killings I assume that agency attracts people like him who get off on the power of the uniform. In contrast afaik the local state troopers near me now are all good decent men.

Meanwhile, in my neck of the woods, the local LEOs have formed themselves a little bike gang, acted the part in a drunken brawl, and not only have no arrests been made, jobs been lost, etc, our local paper can’t get the police report without heavy redaction of names and damning details. Meanwhile they continue to run about busting mere “citizens” for the same thuggish behavior they themselves engaged in. You’d think the “good guys” on the force would be calling for their heads or their superiors would be firing them for sake of overall reputation, if not simple justice, but so far crickets and subterfuge.
