Southwestern Pa. hospital to stop baby deliveries
WINDBER, Pa. (AP) — A southwestern Pennsylvania hospital will stop delivering babies after March 31 because its obstetricians are either leaving or refocusing their practices, and because hospital officials believe they can’t afford it based on projected reimbursements under looming federal health care reforms.
The Windber Medical Center, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, is losing two obstetricians and two others are shifting their focus more to gynecology.
Hospital officials say the population of women of child-bearing age is dropping and that the number of births the hospital would be called upon to perform isn’t enough for it to provide the service in the face of lower reimbursements under the federal Affordable Care Act.

Remember when we referred to American Health Care as the finest in the world?
That apparently just frosted Obama’s pop-tart. How dare American have the finest health care in the world? That isn’t FAIR. The only FAIR thing is to make American Health Care just like every other country’s health care. And the only way to do that is to make our health care SUCK.

It’s a sad state of affairs when it becomes apparent there aren’t very many people enthusiastic about bringing new life into the world.
And we are very close to a tipping point were there will be more enthusiasm to end life in a myriad of ways throughout the stages of a human life.

The population of women of child bearing age is dropping. We are, in fact, following the European and Japanese trend of decreasing native fertility rates – the U.S. fertility rate is right at what is considered replacement. Our society is “graying,” and the more we move towards socialism, the greater the financial pressure on society as we struggle to provide older Americans with the benefits they were promised.
This isn’t a winning formula by any means.
