Being an Arizona resident I supported a 1% sales tax increase last year to tackle the deficit with the promise that it would expire at the end of the 2012 year. It did, and it worked, however seeing all of that money about to go away the teacher’s union sponsored a campaign to place a ballot initiative to extend the 1% tax for the “childrens”. The voters voted it down overwhelmingly.

Y’know, Gov. Brewer’s bio makes an interesting read.
And it’s very interesting (and informative) to try to find a nice picture of her on the internet. Any search will produce every Photoshop-rendered version imaginable of her 69-year-old face and every hideous cartoon ever drawn, but any complimentary image has long since been disposed of.
