Last night I had the opportunity to speak with Ben Shapiro on the Andrea Shea King Show.
During the broadcast Ben said that he was invited back for a rematch with Piers tonight on CNN (9PM et.) He speculated that Piers wanted him back because the consensus was that Ben roughed up Morgan pretty badly. He also said that he fully expected that Piers was going to try and ambush him with surviving victims of shootings, or the family of the slain, in a histrionic and maudlin attempt to bully Shapiro through shame.
That’s exactly what Piers is doing. According to CNN’s broadcast sheet, Piers is expected to have a panel full of weepy peeps filled with personal anecdotes. This is classic left-wingism; trot out the tears and influence the weakest in the flock of sheeple.
Okay, this needs to be said. (And before everyone hits the ceiling calling me a ghoul, let me explain.)
I do not care about the kids in Newtown. (Let the kneejerk reaction to the horror of what I just wrote commence!)
Do I want kids to be murdered? Of course not. Do I hate kids? Of course not. Do I wish this never happened? Of course so. Do I feel bad for the parents and family of the slain? Yes. Am I cold-hearted? Well, someone has to be. You’re welcome.
We cannot allow the left to forever change the law of this land based on these 20 kids, or 100 kids. Morgan likes to site statistics out of Britain, saying that after their total gun ban, murders commissioned by guns went way down. He’ll say it again, tonight. After saying this he will point to the graves of the kids from Newtown. The weakest among us will cave and say, through tears, “you’re right. Take the guns away.”
You have to delve deeper to discover that England has become one of the most violent countries in Europe. A hundred lives may have been saved, but thousands upon thousands have been subjected to violent assaults including rape, muggings, burglaries, home invasions, battery. The list goes on and on. It has been a terrible trade. Sure, if you look at the kids, you might weaken, weep, and possibly fall for the, “do it for the children.” Before you know it you’ll be donating your protection to the gun smelting plant. Don’t do it.
Have you ever come upon an odd stop sign in the middle of a street? (Meaning, not at a corner.) It’s preceded by an exhaust system-breaking series of speed bumps, followed by a series of ass-breaking speed humps. This is usually the result of ONE KID being killed on a street. It’s ludicrous. It’s not the proper response.
If Obama can characterize Ambassador Stevens as a speed bump, I think I have the capital to say the same about the Newtown kids, especially if the reaction is going to be to infringe upon the second amendment.
So, couched in these terms, no, I don’t care about the kids in Newtown. And I fully anticipate Shapiro making a similar argument tonight, but in a much more thoughtful and elegant way. But cutting through the crapcake, it will be the same argument.
