Picture this, Ms. Roach. A ship lands in West Africa to steal and buy slaves. As those on the ship move inland to steal humans, they are met with a hail of gunfire. Many of the ship’s company are killed or wounded. They retreat because there are hundreds or thousands of people with guns. When they tell the other slavers about the Africans having guns, they realize they will have to bring armed security with them. But it still won’t match the number of Africans with guns. There is only enough room on any ship. After numerous attempts, the slavers give up because they are outgunned and most have been killed.

The net effect is that slavery becomes a very difficult and deadly proposition. As more and more Africans are told by their continental brethren about how guns kept them from slavery, more and more Africans get guns to protect themselves. Pretty soon the European slavers just give up because it is not profitable. So slavery doesn’t happen.

If that scenario sounds like “theater” to you Ms. Roach, then you’re too ignorant to understand that if someone thinks a possible profitable enterprise could lead to their own death, they won’t have anything to do with it.

During a slave revolt what would the first thing they would do? Seize the weapons so they couldn’t be used on them and they could defend their freedom by force. It’s common sense.

I remember a black man’s account of how his Grandma always kept a loaded shotgun leaning in the corner of her kitchen, in case the klan showed.

People who think tyranny at the hands of government officials can’t happen here, forget how much it already has happened here. There were entire towns run by elected officials and law enforcement and judges who were klan. There were klan on the Supreme Court and congress and klan wannabe in White House.

When Harry Blackmun was nominated for the high court, he told FDR of his concern that his history with the klan might not look good. FDR told him not to worry about it, because he had plenty of friends in the klan.
