In 1960 you could buy this. I don’t recall any major crimes committed with it.

In 1960 there weren’t 10 million aspie neckbeards high on prozac fantasizing about mass murder.

I hope there are still some of these puppies out there still in good working order. Yep, I hope they still have a goodly supply of cartridges as well.

A 20mm rifle for under $200! Of course, if you want an anti-tank weapon…

If you want to know what the kick is like, just stand behind a mule and poke it in the ass with a sharp stick.

What is interesting is the 2012 $ price tag of around $1200.

Sell an old pick up and create triple-interlocking fire with three 20mm and a case of ammo.

Please visit the ranch to pick up our “clips”.

I’m old enough to remember these ads. Mostly WWII small arms. Mausers, Lugers, Walthers, etc. They had a special on Italian Carcano carbines, scope included…

I think we all remember where we were when we heard that JFK’s limo was blown up by a Nazi 20mm anti-tank rifle.

It probably would not destroy the tank, rather it would damage key areas, i.e. turret ring, track links, etc. A well placed shot could disable the tank and get the crew out where they could be dispatched easily. Ask any Eastern Front veteran.

That is awesome! I am so stealing that.

How come Fort Hood is never brought up?

Didn’t “Thunder Bolt and Lightfoot” use one of those on an armored car. That didn’t cause a bunch of thugs to go out and rob an armored car. MMMM what has changed since the 60′s. A lot.

TJSNRWC: Yes, Clint Eastwood and George Kennedy used a similar anti-tank weapon to blow open a depository vault in that movie.

I’ve used this same graphic, along with other mail-order ads from the early 60s offering M-1 Carbines for less than $100 , to demonstrate the very point made here. Guns are FAR less available now then they were before 1968, but the near-weekly massacres of our time were virtually unknown in American society then.
