The Kill-o-Zap is a weapon first appearing in the novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. ‘Make it evil,’ he’d been told. ‘Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with.’

I’m a bit disappointed.
What this means is, what the gubberment calls an “assault weapon” is a rifle dressed up like something it’s not in order to make posers feel like they’re running around with a military rifle.
Just like the posers do with after-market kits to an otherwise ordinary car. It doesn’t make it a race car, just like the Johnny Nam rifle isn’t an automatic. It’s a single shot rifle.
You can epoxy and bondo as much ghetto bling on the outside of anything in this world, but it won’t improve it one iota.
Crap is crap, regardless of packaging.
I don’t know what that has to do with the M-14, though. It’s degrees of magnitude superior to the M-16.

It’s still a rifle.
The blinged out car is still a car, not a rocket ship.
And the dressed up rifle is still a single shot rifle, not an “automatic killing MACHINE.”
Okay, the graphic didn’t land.

I caught it BFH in that I asked if you were implying my AR is a “riced up” M1.
But.
After looking closer at the tiny pics, the one on the right may in fact be an M14, I dunno.
Either way, M1/14, or M4/16/AR15 the main difference is FULL AUTOMATIC in the two variants and what actually defines which is an “assault rifle.”
I think you just caught us gun nuts off guard, because aside from looks, caliber, some functional attributes and feet per second an M1/4 and M4/16/AR15 are pretty much the same.

BFH – There are more real life graphics that might land better. Like the difference between a Ruger 10/22 and a Red Jacket ZK-22.
The latter would make any progturd who shot a 10/22 in summer camp wet their pants… But it is still a freaking 10/22!

The idea still is -
these politicians are either ignorantly or purposely pushing the narrative that these scary looking “semi-automatic “assault rifles” are a different animal than any other semi-automatic rifle that doesn’t look that scary.
The parallel being, the car on the left isn’t any different than the car on the right. It just “looks badass.”
You can get all pedantic with extreme limited perspective and get all down in the weeds about muzzle velocity, and comparing the rifles for which is “better”, yada. It’s not the point.
It’s a rifle that fires one shot per pull.
The public doesn’t know that.
They think these are machine guns. They have no idea that the government is getting ready to ban single shot rifles that look like machine guns.
