They shoot that way hoping their hoodies will catch the casings.

theJadedBarrel, I went to La Puente High school in East L.A. for a short time (way too long) and obtained a pretty good street education there.
I’ll have them shouting, “ahh chinga?!”

Rule 7 – Don’t scream like a bitch when the hot brass lands on your wrist after shooting from the gangsta position.
Gonna try that double-thumb position this afternoon.

The rest of the Matt Steele Outdoors videos are just as good. Thanks, Andrea.

A few of us actually tried the “more modern gangsta’ grip” at a friends house. It really didn’t take long to start banging the steel at fifty yards. A modified 6 oclock hold rotated to 3 oclock on the right edge of the plate did it.
When you get a picture of a middle age white guy actually doing this it’s worth a lot if you threaten to post it on the innerweb.

My wife and I watched this a month or so ago, and laughed and laughed – just like when we see some stupid show where this “technique” is employed.
I’ve always said that whoever holds a pistol this way, doesn’t know Jack about guns, but when a few hot cases (semi-autos spit out REALLY HOT ones) go down the front of their shirt, they will learn and have some scars as a reminder.

Funny and all, but this is irresponsible. I put it up there with “Zombie” cartridges that Hornady sells. It mocks the seriousness of firearms safety by treating shooting like play acting and make believe.
I hate to be an old killjoy, but anyone who shoots needs to know the Ten Commandments of Gun Safety – and those guys broke 4, 6, and by shooting wild, 9.
The list is here: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/public/lands/table_contents/media/pwd_bk_w7000_0112a_10_commandments.pdf

I don’t think they are mocking the seriousness of gun safety. I think they are mocking the UNseriousness of gun safety. Have you ever heard of “what not to do” videos?
This is one of them.

Stands to reason why I could collect 20 or 30 spent casings at a scene where one was hit. Luckily the poor devils living in the area hit the floor as soon as the shooting started.
Unfortunately some gangs have been sending their people to join the Army in order to learn basic shooting skills as well as small arms tactics and explosives handling.
Some gang members may also enlist to receive weapons, combat, and convoy support training; to obtain access to weapons and explosives; or as an alternative to incarceration. Upon discharge, they may employ their military training against law enforcement officials and rival gang members. Such military training could ultimately result in more organized, sophisticated, and deadly gangs, as well as an increase in deadly assaults on law enforcement officers.
