Aw geez, just when I got done praising Texas – Lawmaker’s bill would license strippers
When did Mike Bloomberg move to Texas?
This is ridiculous on every level. This is not conservatism.
Dancers at strip clubs in Texas soon might have to add something to their attire: a state license to do their job.
State Rep. Bill Zedler, R-Arlington, has filed a bill to require employees at sexually oriented businesses – including dancers – to get a license and display it while working.
You’re doing it wrong, Zedler
The conservative lawmaker said he hopes the measure, if it passes, might encourage women to find another line of work.
“They won’t want to get a license as a stripper from the state of Texas,” Zedler said of his legislation. “I think it would keep a lot of girls from getting involved in that lifestyle and basically wrecking their lives.
“This will force everyone to clean up their act,” he said. “Overall, it will be a benefit to everyone concerned.”
Hey, and you know what you can do next? You can ban soda if it’s more than 16 oz. Or maybe keep Walmart out of the city.
What is this guy thinking? First of all, we don’t need no more stinkin’ government licenses. Second of all, the government shouldn’t TREAD ON ME. Remember that? Am I advocating for stripping? No. I don’t go to the strip clubs. And that’s where my activism ends. The government should not be in the business of dissuading a legitimate life choice because some girls can’t handle it.
I would like to think that everyone that objected to Bloomberg’s government hammer which “curbs behavior” into his personal vision was an objection based on principle, and not what the targets of the hammer were.

Agreed. Walk the narrow path and you don’t need to visit such places. Don’t smoke and don’t gamble, but was against the ban and for casinos.
Unlike the libprog collective, I understand that I share this rock with other ideologues.

I wanna know where they have to display, said licence.
Strippers?

Do we need strippers?
I have never been to a strip bar.
I got along without them, just fine.

The locusts (Progs & Democrats) are invading Texas just like they did in CO. Hopefully it will not have the same results

They (politicians)don’t like strip clubs in Arlington, and they have a lot of them. A strip club owner even got busted trying to hire a guy to kill the mayor.

The strippers will probably have to display 3 copies of the license while working.

I dunno, KF. I saw what happened to Texas in the 1979-1983 times of all those damn yankees coming into state.
They all wanted to do things “the way we did it in Michigan or NY or Wisconsin” Very annoying that they didn’t get the message that the way they did it was a failure leading to their presence here.
I know because I moved back home to Texas in 1980 and brought 6 of them with me. I AM SO SORRY GUYS! But, at least 4 of them became conservative as adults so there’s that.
Most popular bumper sticker in Dallas 1982? The anti “I ♥ NY” ‘ ♥ NY ? Take I-30 east! ‘

And then some local liberal rag will use an FOI law and publish all their names an addresses for ‘informational reasons’…

Unintended consequences: Strippers who fail to get their license will become hookers. Zedler will compromise himself with one of these harlots thereby ruining his political career and wrecking his marriage.

If this got enacted, it would be fun to get a license just so I could say I had one!

They should make the licenses about 2 inches in diameter, and adhesive backed, with a clip to hold the tassle…

I guess this is where I part ways with the particular conservatives who use the liberal methodology of forcing their values on everyone else… paint me libertarian, but it’s not my business what they get up to just like it’s not the government’s business what resides in my gun safe.

Soooo, if Chippendale dudes or some such similar male stripper dancers come to Texas to perform, will they have to take out this license as well? Are male strippers also in need of being directed towards a different line of work?

In Houston they tax the patrons to pay for “rape kits” for the police. Total BS.
They have been fucking up the strip club revenue for many years.
Ever since that tramp (now dead) took that 80 yr old billionaire for a ride.

Republicans do better when they have a bare or slightly less than majority. They’re too busy trying to get serious legislation passed to worry about silly shit like this.
