The superbowl promo below is being attacked as a deliberate attempt to mock Christians and to push a gay agenda.

Can someone please explain why this is a “gay” ad?

I recognize the Football guy with John 3:16 on his face, I don’t know what his name is, but I understand he’s on the level as far as putting scripture on his face because he’s actually devout. A little lacking in humility for my tastes, but whatever.

I assume Feb 3rd is the date of the Superbowl? (I’m not a sports fan, so I have no idea)
Or is it supposed to be some gay anniversary, or something like that?

    beats me, harb?

I think this is the way they connected the dots.
Tim Tebow puts eyeblack under his eyes and refers to scripture in some writing.

A CBS star was chosen (along with other stars)to promote that CBS has the Superbowl this year so they chose to do a takeoff on the iconic Tebow picture with the date of the Superbowl written.

The Doogie Howser dude came out as gay like 4 years ago and has pretty much stayed mum on the subject since.

So, ipso facto, they are promoting a gay agenda.

I didn’t have a problem with gays like Doogie because they just went about their business. No agenda. Unlike those freaks in the San Fran flaunting gay porn on their floaters.

Guess I was wrong about Howser.

Neil Patrick Harris. No this isn’t Pro Gay, it’s anti Tebow. They just can’t keep from slapping this guy around. The NFL has all rights to his photo’s so the can basically do anything they want with them. I hope to god he gets on a team that actually let him play and just kicks ass. And your right, Neil Patrick Harris is gay, but he’s not all that vocal about it. Seems like a descent enough guy for Hollywierd.

I’m confused. Is the only connection Neil Patrick Harris has with the upcoming SuperBowl, the fact he is an employee of CBS and CBS will air the SuperBowl?

Will we be seeing similar promos for the SuperBowl with other CBS actors whom we know aren’t gay? Your guess is as good as mine.

Because Tebow is a Christian he understands and accepts that the world will revile and persecute him. The more he is persecuted, the stronger his faith should become. All who profess to be Christians understand that all forms of persecution will be a part of our lives until our mortal bodies die.

    John 15:18
18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

CBS has a few other shows that are popular. Hawaii 5-0 and the CSI franchise come to mind. Gary Sinise plays a role in CSI NY so they could have used him rather than the gay guy.

Personally, I think it is both. Slap down a Christian and promote homosexuality in the same ad.

    @Unruly,
It is a wonderful promise, isn’t it? That promise takes away all fear of death.

As long as Tebow is a public figure and wears his Christianity on his sleeve and lives a Christian life, he will be hounded, harangued, and made fun of by way of the media. A media that serves no true good, but gleefully serves to advance Satan’s cause. We know how much Satan hates Christianity. We haven’t even seen or heard the worst of the media Christian bashing yet!!! The governor (device) will be removed this coming year I predict.

AND, because ONE of the actors they chose to use for this blatently obvious ad campaign is gay, that makes the entire operation a gigantic gay-agenda-pushing, anti-Christian attack?

@ harbqll – You’re right, but if there were no extremes, there’d be no center.

I don’t watch TV (unless a hurricane is headed my way), haven’t followed the NFL since the players became more known for their criminal records than their performance records, thought Doogie Howser jumped the shark ten years ago and I haven’t the foggiest who “Football Guy” is.

But I am well aware of Tim Tebow, ex-Fla. Gator. If he makes it to JAX, I may start tuning in their games. I know there are black NFLers who are devout and I wish they’d come to the fore.

As for a “gay” agenda, the showbiz field is so saturated with homos, how can one tell when they’re pursuing an agenda? They’d have to conduct a SEARCH to get a straight guy.

Two observations: First, all CBS affiliate websites all had links with pictures on dozens of gay celebrities until just recently. If that’s not pushing an agenda, then I don’t know the definition.
Second: Neil Patrick Harris may not dress in drag and flounce in gay pride parades, but he does a pretty decent job of promoting “The Cause” in tonier venues. Please define “Not all that vocal about it”. To whit: NPH NY Times BIO

CBS is a tool for the liberal agenda
They hate Christians but they do love the Queers

CBS has same agenda as Hollywood
They love to mock conservatives and Christians

A Queer cannot put bible verse on face, Queers go to hell if they don’t repent – that would make them not a Queer

This is a mockery that more than half the assholes in the country are ok with (look who they chose for president)
The ones CBS don’t want to piss off are the ones who used their voting power (and fraud) to put their agenda driven man (cough, spit) in office. Like it or not, those assholes have the media on their side and therefore are the majority.

Life sucks. So do Queers and their man in the white house

This is the liberal agenda in action. They don’t sleep.

Oh ya, you can bet it’s part of the left’s gay agenda. BTW, just an observation – the eyes of these two are very telling. Tebow’s show life, promise, confidence and hope. NPH’s eyes show desperation, weariness and unhappiness. At one time the word ‘gay’ meant happy. The ‘agenda’ can hijack words all they want but they can never mask their unhappiness.

The new agitation to get PEDOPHILIA accepted as normal sexual behavior “the the kids love just as much as the adults” has me praying that He will just destroy them and let us somehow escape His wrath. Curious why there’s no link to the muzzy pedophilia love and the MFM’s newfound desire to normalize it. That’s what’s behind it.

Tebow rocks! Not a great player – but a damn good one! He’ll be much happier playing with JAX and should win them some games, as a back up!

I don’t see the gay angle – They’ve been promoting everything with the “How I met your Mother” cast and he’s one of them! They could just as easily be promoting liberalism – but it’s just the date of the Super Bowl~! I’m not offended – I wondered when the hell it was !

If CBS REALLY wanted to promote their Stupidbowl broadcast, they would use their iconic employee, David Letterman.

Picture Letterman standing at the 50-yd line, making his typical assinine comments, when out of nowhere, Ray Lewis, running full-speed, blindsides Letterman airborne, with full helmet to cranium contact.

It is a frog in the hot pan agenda; first you laugh at the funny queer-bait actor, then you look forward to watching his show. I don’t know whether or not it’s intentionally a ‘pro gay’ or ‘anti-Christian’ ad.
    I think it’s just a bad ad.

Anybody who isn’t familiar with SeeBS’s programming (including myself) wouldn’t have a clue who that dipstick is, or what his sexual orientation is. Therefore, his image is meaningless to these people.

I can see using the eye-black as a medium to promote the Super Bowl, but to make sense, the model should have been either another football player, or somebody who looks like an obvious fan, not some pasty-looking doofus.
This was a wasted opportunity, IMHO.

My take is that a very large percent of the population knows who Tim Tebow is and that he wears the John 3:16 eye black strips, and that this is merely an ad using that image on a CBS sitcom actor to promote the date of the game.

You have to understand what a huge positive public relations promotion Tebow is to the game. In fact, it is the ONLY reason that the Jets traded for him – to boost their image and ratings/fan base.

I would in no way connect it to a pro-gay, anti-Christian agenda.

Just to be sure I’m not misunderstood – none of my comments were meant to be an attack on BFH, or this post. What I’m objecting to is the way that some folks on our side of the aisle seem to reflexively interpret even the most innocuous things as “Direct, Deliberate, and Personal Attacks On All We Hold Dear!” It’s ridiculous, counter-productive, and makes us look like clowns.

They used the imagery of a Football Player (which is so well-known that even a non-sports person like me recognized it) to promote the broadcast of a Football game. That’s all. No more, no less. Calm down, click your selector switch back over to safe, and try to pick your battles with a little more care. Doogie Howser advertising a football game is not a hill to die on.

@Ted – I have read the Bible, cover-to-cover, several times.

I know what John 3:16 says, and what it means.

I also know that I’ve had gay people try to use it as an argument why they can be gay and still be Christian.

I have also torn that argument into shreds, multiple times.

And none of this is remotely relevant to the point at hand, which is that there are some on our side, you obviously included, who need to quit seeing anything and everything as an attack. IT’S A JUST A FUCKING COMMERCIAL FOR A FOOTBALL GAME.

As BFH so succinctly put it: “I saw the date for the Superbowl written on the eyeblack, not Try Sucking Dick.”

The simple fact that the actor chosen for that one particular photo happens to be gay, does not make this a ‘gay-agenda-pushing’ ad. There is another ad in the same series that shows a female singer named Beyonce, with the same eye-black painted on her face. Does that constitute a ‘lousy-r&b-dance-music-agenda-pushing’ ad, in your eyes?

You really need to take a step back and look at yourself. You’re sounding like some lefty who sees RACISM!!!! every time the sun goes behind a cloud.
