Liberal Guest Covers His Ears Rather Than Listen to Question from Sean Hannity

By Randy Hall at Newsbusters

It’s no secret that the debate over gun rights has been a contentious one, and that was clearly on display during Wednesday night’s edition of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” program.

Throughout the segment, the guests — left-wing attorney Leo Terrell and conservative lawyer Jay Sekulow — tried to talk over each other to get their points across, but before it was done, Terrell put his hands over his ears and stopped responding.

The discussion began when host Sean Hannity said the White Plains, New York-based Journal News regional newspaper, which created a national controvery by publishing an online map of registered gun owners in its circulation area, had once again brought attention to itself by hiring armed guards to protect its employees, an obvious case of hypocrisy given the publication’s virulently anti-gun editorial stance.

Several minutes into the debate, the fireworks started when Hannity asked Terrell a pointed question:

Those people that have weapons, now if somebody wanted to steal them, they’ve also been disclosed, and people without guns are probably sitting ducks if people want to know where to rob. Here’s my question: Do you believe in the right of privacy ’cause liberals often lecture us about the right of privacy?

Trying to talk to a liberal is very much like talking to a two year old. They don’t understant facts, they can’t think rationally, and they simply want to talk over you to get their way.
This is one of the reasons I no longer watch Hannity though. I don’t want to hear liberals and I don’t want Sean to just turn them loose and let them rant and rave. Why can’t these shows cut people’s mic’s off to get them to shut up?

Talking over each other is a Hannity Show trait. No liberal ever leaves thinking “Boy, Hannity really got me on that one.” The show is an equal opportunity winner for each side which is why they love to come on. Liberal blogs show their side putting Hannity and guest down; Conservative blogs show Hannity zinging it to the liberal.

and you don’t learn a damn thing.

This is a perfect example of why prog talk radio always fails. They don’t want to have discussions or engage in a logical thought process about their ideas and policies. They don’t want to know that their good intentions fail and frequently harm people. It’s all about emotion and feeling good.

Later on Terrell was called narrow minded and his response was ” I know you are but what am I” immediately followed by a Bronx cheer

I hate Hannity’s format. It’s nothing more than a shouting match, and no points are made in the end. In fact Maudie is correct in that it allows both sides to claim victory.

The douchebag Terrill’s very first assumption was 100% false. If Hannity would have shut up long enough to let him finish his comment, Hannity could have ended the argument – er, I mean discussion – right there.

    Terrill’s claim was that,

“…This information will alert the neighborhood of people who are mentally ill…”

The “this information” that he was referring to was the map of gun permit owners. He conveniently made the illogical assumption that gun owners are mentally ill.

KF nailed it-our local REgressive talk format in Boulder, 760, routinely refuses to allow me on air to discuss a current topic

Ann Barnhardt pointed out a similar phenomenon with muslim absurdities like sharia finance. We pretend that it is a sound moral and logical construct, so as not to disturb their infantile pretensions.

Hannity has committed the sin of ignoring pretense and has intruded on Terrell’s childish liberal fantasy, so Terrell employs the Two-Year-Old Defense.

There is another reason why talks like will fail; implied, is the concept that one might have to change their point of view, if new evidence indicates that the postion you hold is wrong or needs to be modified. Very few people are willing to admit they might be wrong regarding a deepley held belief.

democrats, liberals and progressives are never wrong because they use their brains to think with their “feelings” not the “facts” and their feelings are always correct and they do not “feel” the facts are.

ideas like fairness, economic justice, gun control are just “feelings” not “facts”.

denying the law abiding the ability of owning guns or taxing the high income earners has nothing to do with “facts” its all “feelings” to them.

“facts” means nothing to those that can’t think but only “feel”.

Oh come on, now. There is really a lot of value in letting progtard commies go on shows like Hannity’s. Just look at how silly the jerk looks. I saw this as it aired and it was a real treat to see the guy cover his ears against the steely logic of Jay Sekulow. They say a picture is worth a thousands words, well this was about ten thousands words — not to mention the tone of his actual, shouted words. No one speaks better for the left than the left. You gotta be a real dummy and supremely immature to think the guy in the middle has represented your views well. I wouldn’t want to be associated with him.

Believe me when I say the left’s demise is coming. Those idiots who voted a second time for the black president with his stupid “hope and change” crap message already knew before Christmas that they’d made a big mistake. Now, get off the blogs for a couple hours a week, talk to your friends and neighbors and people you meet here and there and start a conservation about how we get out of this hole. They’ll listen to you.

@Bill — I caught Dennis Prager on the radio this afternoon and he talked about the whole facts versus feelings thing. You’re dead on. He quoted some of the founders on feelings versus facts and what a mess we’re in if we rely on the latter to make weighty decisions. Seems like common sense, but we’re lacking that in gov’t, too.
