Last Friday Barack Obama caused quite a stir with his executive order that ended the freeze on wages for Congress and federal workers, giving them what amounted to an $11 billion pay raise. Among those getting more green was Vice President Joe Biden.

On Tuesday evening, the U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation that blocked the pay raise. The Hill reports,

The House approved legislation on Tuesday that would block a pay increase for federal workers and members of Congress scheduled to take place in March.

Members voted 287-129 in favor of the bill from Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.). Just two Republicans opposed the legislation, and 55 Democrats supported it.

Republicans brought the bill up under a suspension of the rules in order to allow for quicker consideration, although that move also required a two-thirds majority vote.

The bill is a response to an executive order last Friday from President Obama that would end the two-year federal worker pay freeze, and increase congressional pay by about $1,000 for each member of the House and Senate.

I can’t see any reason politicians would vote to give themselves, well, not less money, but to not give themselves MORE money, unless, just maybe, some of them might have some small miniscule amount of conscience?

There will be a never-ending stream of Executive Orders flying out of his butt. We’ll see how well your Congressional Eunuchs overturn them this year and next.

    Stay awake, America!

Dagney, Usually when they quote a dollar amount like this with no specified time frame it’s per annum, but how the hell does that amount to 11 billion? Good question.

Using the same logic as Hussein 0bama, we could start handing out trophies and bonuses to every asshole that has ever been fired from five or more jobs. And double bonuses for all those who got fired and ended up in prison because of what they did to get fired.

Fire the lazy, dangerous, freeloading socialists. Barry first, Biden next. And Val J goes with Barry.

So the House overturned an Executive Order. Think the bill will make it through the Obama suckophant pool known as the US Senate?

Or doesn’t it need to? I thought only the Senate could act on some matters without the cooperation of the other body.

I do believe Bad Brad is way closer to the truth than Carlos on this issue. My guess is they had visions of normal hardworking Americans angry over being robbed AGAIN, joining up with their lazy-assed counterparts of the Occutard persuasion, and everybody storming the house with “assault jack-handles”… “wanna raise? Here’s your raise MFers”!!!!
