FBI: MORE PEOPLE KILLED WITH HAMMERS, CLUBS EACH YEAR THAN RIFLES

According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.
This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats’ feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.
However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.
Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.
And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.

The hammer pictured is a 28 oz Eastwing framing hammer, and I have 2 of them. I also have a 28 oz Plum, a 16 oz plum, sevaral Kobalts, brick hammers, trim hammers, sledge hammers, mini-sledges….
all in all, I know I have have more than 3 dozen assault hammers….and if I went looking, I’ll bet my arsenal of deadly hammers is well over 50…and I also have many nail guns and ram-sets…
Damn, I am a well armed sob! Come and get ‘em coppers!

Menderman, did all those hammers sink along with your guns, too?

I do have to add that the straight claw would be my weapon of choice when assualting a 6X6. We just swing the weapon claw first to sink it deep into the flesh of the former tree to tote it about the jobsite.

Nope, my guns got lost when I moved back in ’97, they didn’t sink in the swamp.

@Menderman – I assume you have all of those properly registered with authorities, and that a proper background check was done with each purchase…

Uh-oh! I didn’t realize I was in possession of such a cache of deadly weapons.
I must have over a dozen hammers hanging around, including a couple of big-ass dead blow fellas, that you wouldn’t want to catch off the back of your nuts.
I just use them to tenderize meat, though…yeah, that’s the ticket.

That’s an assault hammer right there! Those are made to kill people, not to build things (things you’d never have built anyway).

Screw the hammer. Ever consider a Disson, rip, hand saw as a weapon? Even a crosscut? Just imagine a few well placed swipes.

You can make a hell of a politician behavior modifier out of a ball peen head, a two foot length of chain, and an 18 inch wooden handle.
