“The ISRA has learned from a credible source that Illinois Senate President John Cullerton [above] will introduce a so called ‘assault weapons’ ban on Wednesday when the legislature returns for its ‘lame duck’ session. Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police . . .

This article makes absolutely no sense. In one paragraph it goes on about confiscating all semi-automatic firearms, then in the next it says magazines in excess of 10 rounds will need to be registered.
I’m pretty stupid, but why do you need magazines if anything semi-automatic is illegal?

They also seem to have unofficially stopped issuing FOID cards. By law they are to respond to an applicant within 30 days. I’ve been waiting almost 2 months, no response. I’ve also been waiting 2 weeks for a response to an inquiry.

There are actually two bills proposed: one to ban all modern firearms and the other to ban “hi cap” mags. If the first were to pass the second would be obviated. If the first fails, then they could still get the second. A friend in Chicago said that this same legislation got trounced only a month ago. Outside of Chicago there is very little support for gun control. But in the present hysterical, irrational climate it could be different this time around, especially concerning a magazine ban.

This has to somehow be in response to overturning Illinois conceal carry laws on December 11. They are throwing a handful of shit on the wall hoping something will stick so they can declare victory for both sides, as the compromise solution. The state’s progs got their asses handed to them on CC and that needs to be taken into consideration when attempting to rationally deduce this steaming hunk of shit.
