SHOCK: New York Corner Stores Appear to be Facilitating Rampant Abuse of EBT Welfare Benefits
But there’s nothing to cut!
Most people run to the corner bodega for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread, but some welfare recipients are plunking down $500 at a time in suspicious transactions… Welfare users are only allowed to use their Electronic Benefit Transfer cards to buy food, yet they are rung up like fat cats in tiny stores in The Bronx and Brooklyn where the priciest item is usually an $8 pound of ham.
Earlier this year, an owner and a cashier at Glenwood Food Corp. in Canarsie, Brooklyn, were arrested for ringing up bogus transactions… A federal sting found the bodega was recording phony purchases on EBT cards, handing customers about 70 percent of the amount in cash — and pocketing the rest. Goods were rarely exchanged in the scam, which defrauded taxpayers out of $985,000 in two years…
Sheridan Mini Mart in Morrisania, The Bronx, rang up single sales of $543.40 and $473.50 on June 4, 2012, alone. That’s a lot of bread for a store where the most expensive item is an $11.99 jug of cooking oil… At Tremont’s Palenque Supermarket Corp., ETB where the priciest product is an $18.99 gallon of olive oil, transactions reached as high as $400 last year… Desi Grocery, a tiny East New York store now known as Anchor Grocery, racked up a $585 sale and several $400 sales through June 2012…

It is one of many wealth redistribution schemes endorsed by the Socialist-in-Chief (aka Obamaham al Lincoln).
They’ll crack down on this around the same time they start defending the rights of gun owners.

The ultimate voter bribe. Obumphuk and the democraps have that scam/system down to an art.
Whether it’s the unions, the green industry or welfare, it’s “I’ll give you tax payers’ money and you give me your vote and/or campaign contribution”.
Somehow we the people need to bust up that system.

I had the unfortunate job of working at a gas station in college. Mom would come in with 5 to 10 kids in tow and every one of them had a $10 or $20 food stamp. They all made individual purchases of 1 cent flavored tootsie rolls. I’d have to dole out $9.99 to $19.99 in change for several transactions in a row. While I juggled change out of the till, “Dad” and his friends would fill their pockets with whatever they wanted without paying. I had the night shift, it was late and I worked alone, unarmed. Essentially I gave them anything they wanted — it wasn’t my store and my life was worth more than the store.
When they finally left, all of them took their full pockets of cash money across the street to the liquor store. This happened every single night. I lasted 2-1/2 months on the job with the same night shift; when I quit the owner said I worked the job longer than anyone he has hired previously. The last straw was when a “customer” came in and threatened me with a concealed weapon when he couldn’t come up with A DOLLAR for the gas he put in his car.

The food stamp/EBT card program has evolved well beyond this. Thanks to the progs and community activists many states and counties allow the withdrawls from an ATM machine or cash back with purchase. Working the system is an artform.
This is how clueless I am

When I was in my 20′s and did my own grocery shopping, I had to ask the cashier what the person in front of me used to pay for thier groceries. She said food stamps. What? What are food stamps?
So she explained. I thought
“you’re kidding”

The welfare programs in the States (and here in Canada) have been systematically stripped of safeguards and fraud controls over the years. The stupid bastards running it (government liberal drones) are the ones mostly responsible for this mess because they are so afraid of attaching a stigma to government help that they have effectively just opened the door and invited fraud.

Well, I just don’t understand it … the poor are akin to the ‘noble savages’ of yesteryear – all honesty and honor, looking for an honest job, doing an honest day’s work and being paid an honest and fair wage but kept down and poor by ‘the man’ and wouldn’t steal the pennies off a dead man’s eyes.
You know, the exact opposite of the evil employers.
Or did I miss something in the translation?

Do you know the fedgov pays an almighty shitload of our tax dollars to JP Morgan just to administer EBT?
