‘It’s a fantastic step forward, the Liverpool Care Pathway, and we need to be unabashed about that because it’s basically designed to bring hospice-style care to terminally-ill people in hospitals,’ he told LBC Radio
I guess this is another one of those unfortunate translation/ context problems across the pond. A fag and a shag are different over here, and I’ll be DAMNED if that’s the hospice we practice.

As he should be! I’m sick of these idiots putting other people’s lives in danger to save their dumb asses.
O/T but I HAVE to get this off my chest. I was in the store today standing behind two young black women. (Yeah, guess I’m a racist but I haven’t encountered any other race with these freebies yet.) They bought lobsters, crabs and steaks and paid with their freakin’ EBT cards. I’ve had it. The working class is really being pushed waaaaay too far! How about “over the cliff.” That’s more on target.

@jclady, ny congressman voted againt the bill, I wanna keep him. Here is a recent e-mail he sent me:
Dear Menderman
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about the upcoming “fiscal cliff”. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and I am happy to respond.
I share your concerns about our nation’s fiscal situation. America is over $16 trillion in debt. Much of that is owed to foreign nations like China which do not have our best interests in mind. Deficit spending in Washington is adding over $1 trillion to our debt every year. We are fast approaching the point where the country’s debt burden gets so high that it becomes an irreversible impediment to economic growth.
This is the time for the president and congressional leaders to put politics aside and do what’s right for America’s future. That is why I have been so deeply disappointed with President Obama’s proposals. The president has continually failed to acknowledge the reality that America is broke because Washington spends too much. The president’s offer to address the problem through small, token spending cuts and massive middle class tax hikes is just irresponsible.
Furthermore, the president’s proposal to permanently remove Congress’s control over the debt limit is outrageous. The administration should read the Constitution: Congress has the power of the purse, not the president.
I have proposed several specific spending cuts that I am willing to make, including: eliminating foreign aid and the federal Department of Education; halting the bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; repealing Obamacare; reforming entitlements; and stopping the war in Afghanistan. The president and congressional leaders would be well advised to consider these.
As negotiations continue, please know that I will continue to keep your thoughts in mind. Please feel free to visit my website, http://www.jones.house.gov to stay up to date on all federal matters affecting Eastern North Carolina. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Walter B. Jones

I was listening to Tammy Bruce this afternoon and she was encouraging folks to contact their house member to get rid of Boehner. Tom Price apparently is calling for new leadership and she was suggesting recommending him. So I drafted the following and sent it to my house rep. I hope it does some good.
Subject line: Thank you for voting against H.R. 8 (now vote for Tom Price for Speaker please)
Dear Congressman Duffy,
Thank you for your sacrifice and service as my Representative in the House of Congress of the United States of America. I am very proud of you today for voting against the Senate generated fiscal cliff bill (a.k.a. crap sandwich bill). You have done the right thing for both the 7th District of Wisconsin and for nation as a whole.
I ask now that you join other House members who are seeking to replace Jon Boehner as the Speaker of the House. Through his actions in recent weeks Speaker Boehner has demonstrated his preference for maintaining high office over the responsibility of doing what is right for the nation. It is my understanding that Tom Price has called for new leadership with much more of a Red State origin. I feel that the nation desperately needs leadership from the House that will expose the politics as usual that goes on in Washington and to at least challenge those who control of the other branches of government to act responsibly with the charge they have been entrusted with.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tar

As I was perusing the new changes here at IOTW I thought I Would take a drive down memory lane via the October 2012 posts. Remember those golden weeks leading up to all our hopeful anticipation?
Well, I must have not seen the article linked from American Thinker posted on October 20, “Obama’s Taqqiya Unravels”. Brilliant piece on how Islam intersects atheism in the minds of geopoliticians like Obama. The idea being that Islamism is compatible with atheism because it achieves the same goal of riding the world of a Christian God.
I highly recommend a second reading (or a first for anyone else who missed it).

Yesterday I sent this to my Congressman
==================================================
Congressman Jones,
Thank You for standing up to “speaker” Boehner and voting NO on the tax increase and spending Increase bill last night. I also want to encourage you to remove Boehner as speaker. Our country needs leadership at this time of crisis, and leaders don’t kick cans down the road for his grandchildren to pick up later. Please continue to hold to your principles and do what is right for America. The next fight, the Debt Ceiling, is going to be very ugly and Obama is giving every indication that he intends to side-step Congress and raise the ceiling unilaterally by executive order and we need a leader that will draw a line and stand there and not let the executive branch trample the Constitution and the legislative branch. Please stand firm!
Thank You.

I got a reply today
================================================
Dear Menderman:
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns on the “fiscal cliff. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and I am happy to respond.
I understand your concerns with our fiscal situation, which is why I voted against H.R. 8, the so-called “fiscal cliff” deal negotiated by the White House and leaders of the U.S. Senate at the last minute behind closed doors. Despite 150 House Republicans joining me in voting no, H.R. 8 still passed by a vote of 257 to 157. The bill was approved by the Senate earlier and the president signed into law on January 2, 2013.
The Congressional Budget Office’s analysis shows the bill will raise the federal debt by nearly $4 trillion. In addition, the bill includes over $40 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts. This comes at a time when America’s federal debt is nearly $17 trillion, and federal deficits have clocked in at over $1 trillion a year for each of the past four years.
I’m tired of seeing Congress and the White House rob our children and grandchildren. America is nearly broke financially because its political leadership keeps passing bills like this that simply kick the can down the road. $40 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts? Adding $4 trillion to the debt? This is unacceptable.
The way this deal went down reinforces what America hates about the way Washington is being run. Backroom deals done in the middle of the night at the zero hour are never good for the American people. This will be no exception. We’re already hearing that millions in special corporate welfare subsidies were included for Hollywood, algae producers, electric motorcycles and many others.
Please be assured I will continue to keep your thoughts in mind. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Walter B. Jones
Member of Congress

I have an anti-cultural marxist question: While reading a blurb about Hillary Clinton testifying before congress on Benghazi, I noticed, not for the first time, what I can only describe as “gay man eyes” in the picture of Ambassador Chris Stevens. Meaning absolutely no disrespect to him or to our admiration for his service or courage under fire, his is the best example I’ve seen of a phenomena which seems peculiar to many gay men — their eyes seem very closely spaced. Has anyone else noticed this?

Now a Connecticut law-breaker, I mean maker, wants to introduce a bill requiring conceal carry permit holders names and addresses to be public information. He is doing this because “in a “computer age” it is reasonable for people to want to know gun ownership information. Maybe their kids are going over to Johnny Smith’s and maybe they want to see whether they have guns in the house.”
In the spirit of the “computer age”, here is a link to information about Stevie’s location ‘case the criminals want to pay him a visit as I’m sure he is unarmed.
