It looks like the district’s decision to install condom machines in high schools isn’t the only controversy surrounding the Philadelphia School District this week.

The parents of 16-year old Samantha Pawlucy, the Philadelphia high school student who was taunted by her geometry teacher for wearing a Romney-Ryan T-shirt to school, filed a lawsuit in federal court against the teacher and the school district over the incident late last week. The Pawlucys’ suit alleges that the district and teacher Lynette Gaymon violated their daughter’s right to free speechand subjected her “to emotional distress, simply because she exercised her First Amendment rights.”

The family is also seeking damages for emotional distress, claiming that Gaymon defamed Pawlucy by suggesting that she was a racist and for allowing other students who disagreed with her political views to harass her, and is seeking a judge to enjoin the district to ensure that this doesn’t happen to other students.

“This is Philadelphia, the birthplace of freedom and things like that, but we have schools that want to take away her freedom,” the girl’s father said.

It really makes you wonder why teachers are so hateful and mean spirited.

I’d love to be on the jury – they’d be naming the school after the girl, in addition to a huge payout. And I hate when people sue!

    Tim,
Only teachers who are steeped in the hatred of the left are hateful and mean spirited. Oops, I guess that includes most teachers. Never Mind.

Hey teacher, it is a democratic school not a democrat school. Maybe you need to learn the difference. You are one hate filled woman.

The teacher should lose his/her teaching license forever.

How the in the hell can a geometry teacher, someone allegly good with numbers support the math deficient Obama?

Just goes to show you, you don’t need to know shit about math to be an Obama supporter/voter….and yet no one can figure out why kids aren’t making the grades or what the fuck the problem is with our schools.

I know a lot of teachers and many others in the education field. I don’t think any of them would have been this mean to a child. Granted, they wouldn’t like her tee-shirt, but they wouldn’t have taunted or harassed her.

That said, I also don’t doubt that there are evil, mean, nasty, hateful teachers – just like there are the same type of people in everyday life.

I hope this teacher is fired and blackballed in every school in the state when the school looses the lawsuit.

I’ll bet that the school and school district have an anti-bullying policy and that the behavior of this teacher and some students violated every word of it including the punctuation.

good for the parents not folding, finding a lawyer, (HOPE a great one btw) & they clean up big time. I would also have stipulated in the settlement that the teachers loses her job, & in NO WAY can be in charge of kids again. let her collect unemployment which is good for the economy per Pelousey & her boy.
