Chicago reaches 500 homicides with fatal shooting
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago has logged its 500th homicide of 2012.
The last time the city reached the 500-homicide mark was in 2008, when the year ended with 512 killings. Last year, city records show Chicago had 435 homicides.
On Thursday, officials with the Chicago Police Department said the city was one homicide away from the 500 mark. Hours later, a 40-year-old man was fatally shot in the Austin neighborhood on the city’s West Side. Police say Nathaniel Jackson was found on the sidewalk outside a convenience store with a gunshot wound to the head late Thursday.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says Jackson was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital early Friday.
Jackson’s death remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.

@ DOC, the year ain’t over yet, as a betting man I’m thinking New Years’ eve in chitown will be a real blast. saw on Drudge in California with gun sales way up, crime suprising is down. Just step back and look at the Chicago demographics relating to murders and abortions. At the rate that PP is killing black babies and young black adults are being murdered in the streets by other blacks it is a wonder that the black population is sustainable. Prog politicians have run this town, black race baiters have stolen from this town and yet the people are convinced that they are being exploited by the man. Go figure.

I remember back in 1995 I drove from Edmonton, Alberta to Montreal. I always travel south to Montana and take the interstate across the US to Montréal; it’s faster than taking the Trans Canada highway.
Anyhoo, for my new wife, who was only 19 years old at the time, this was an experience to say the least. As we entered Chicago, I have never seen someone so nervous. Even on the city bypass she made sure her passenger door was locked and made sure that I did not stop for any reason.
By the time we hit Detroit, she was a basket case. I had to stop for gas before hitting the Canadian border, which was a real eye opener for her seeing the burned out shells of vehicles and kids selling crack on the street corner.
She never experienced this in her life coming from a relatively violence free Alberta city.
That was the last time we drove through Chicago or Detroit en-route to Alberta
