Social Security Ran $47.8B Deficit in FY 2012

(CNSNews.com) – The Social Security program ran a $47.8 billion deficit in fiscal 2012 as the program brought in $725.429 billion in cash and paid $773.247 for benefits and overhead expenses, according to official data published by Social Security Administration.

The Social Security Administration also released new data revealing that the number of workers collecting disability benefits hit a record 8,827,795 in December–up from 8,805,353 in November.

The overall number of Social Security program beneficiaries—including retired workers, dependent family members and survivors and disabled workers and their dependent family members—also hit a record in December, climbing from 56,658,978 in November to 56,758,185 in December.

In 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there was an average of 112.556 million full-time workers in the United States, of whom 17.806 million worked full-time for local, state or federal government. That left an average of only 94.750 million full-time private sector workers in the country.

That means that for every 1.67 Americans who worked full-time in the private sector in 2011, there is now 1 person collecting benefits from the Social Security administration.

My Dad used to handle the finances for this man who struggles with drug addiction. He gets SS-disability payments every month. Now, he’s never held a job because of his drug addiction, but he gets more in a month that my Dad who worked every day of his life since he was in grade school. The reason this drug addict gets disability? He’s a drug addict.

There is something seriously wrong with the system if people who have NEVER paid in to SS are able to draw out more than the people who have been paying in for 50+ years.

    What a fucking scam.

Must be some mistake … Socialist Security is in a Fully Funded Lockbox … I heard some Socialist Politician say so.

Y’know the Nazis called theirs “social security,” too.

Looks like the government is finally admitting that being a Democrat is a disability.

$773 billion for benefits and overhead expenses. I’m guessing that breaks down to around $200 billion for benefits and $573 billion for overhead expenses.

Now about the topic at hand I sometimes find myself seething with hate for these people on the dole, but I reflect and realize it’s the system too. Who is the bigger fool me for going to work, or those who have no idea what it is like to have some fucking pride in an HONEST days work!

Diann, pretty discouraging for me to read that. Been working slightly over 40 years full-time. A year ago, had to have surgery for spinal cord tumors.

Net result of the surgery was a partially-paralyzed leg and the inability to stand for more than 15 minutes at a time. Still, I managed to come from wheel chair to walking in the last year.

First try at disability, SS’s response was essentially “if you can walk, you can work” (Anybody wanna hire a service technician that falls down occasionally?)

Second time around, and the website says “A decision has been made” on my request for reconsideration. But I must be informed of the decision via U.S. Mail.

Now you tell me I busted my hump for nothing? So some doper can collect while I was working on and flying U.S. Navy planes?? Day-um, did I f*ck up!

Rick, I am sorry this has been your experience. You deserve better for having served in the military – Thank you for your service.
In a previous job I held I saw with my own eyes children who are qualified for SS because they have ADHD which was merely a case of fat ass mommy don’t give no shit and feeds her critters junk food all day. Cases like yours is what it was created for, now it is given out like candy to many just “off the boat” (yes, I have seen this too a non english speaking mexican getting SS.
Diann called it perfectly it is now a scam.

Barack changed the meaning of permanent disability to Reparations.

If you’re white with a proven disabilty plan on getting a lawyer, if you’re a druggie, alcoholic, or ghetto scammer, just step on over into the approved line.

He’s got his fingers and his alinsky peoples hands in every pot he can to break america and destroy it from within while rewarding evil.

    He’s the freaken devil.
