Facebook FAIL- Do people really expect PRIVACY on a social site?
Randi Zuckerberg posts private photo on Facebook, sees it go public
Randi Zuckerberg, Mark Zuckerberg’s sister, ran into issues with Facebook’s photo privacy settings Wednesday morning. (Twitter)
Mark Zuckerberg’s sister, Randi, got stymied by Facebook’s privacy policy this week when a photo she posted for her friends was shared publicly over Twitter.
Twitter user @cshweitz shared a photo of the Zuckerberg family checking out Poke, the latest mobile app developed by Facebook, early Wednesday.
The picture had originally been posted on Facebook by Randi Zuckerberg, who expressed her displeasure with the photo being shared publicly on Twitter.
“Not sure where you got this photo. I posted it to friends only on FB. You reposting it to Twitter is way uncool,” Zuckerberg tweeted to @cshweitz, according to a screenshot of the tweet grabbed byBuzzFeed.
The Twitter user, Callie Schweitzer, apologized, explaining that she follows Randi Zuckerberg on Facebook and saw the picture at the top of her News Feed.
Randi Zuckerberg said she accepted the apology a few minutes later and explained that Schweitzer probably saw the picture because Schweitzer is Facebook friends with Randi Zuckerberg’s sister, who was tagged in the photo.

I’m with you all the way, Randi! This shouldn’t happen! Your brother’s web site sucks! I’m never using it again!

Don’t get on it in the first place. They and google track your ass. I don’t like being spied on.

What part of that is HARD?

I’m using Facebook to track some jihadists and arabic financiers. I’ve opened one bogus email with yahoo; use it to open another one with hotmail; use it to open a ‘group’ FB account.
I never post anything remotely personnal; and I’m ‘friend’ with folks of the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda, and some niqqabed-chicks to give me muzzie-creds.
Do FB know who am I?

Re: privacy, the internet and gun control:
“Don’t think for a minute that if you didn’t use a Credit Card to make a purchase you are off the hook. Did you ever go to a shooting range? Did you ever voice your opinion on Free Republic [or iOwnTheWorld for that matter]? Did you ever email your friends about the dastardly deeds of our POTUS or that B-in-a-ditch Pelosi? Did you ever attend a Tea Party rally? Are you a veteran? Are you anti-abortion? They know who your are and they have a file on you.”

Facebook, shmacebook. I didn’t get it when it first came on the scene. And I really, really don’t get it now. Except to know I am so very thankful I paid attention to my gut instincts and never signed on. Everything I ever read about Facebook proves it is the devil’s playground.
Plus, in my life I know to stay away from anything that a chorus of people sing like chirpy birdies, “Ooo, you should sign up for this” or they insist I should “try that” or I’m missing out on some particularly cool, new thing. Facebook devotees annoy me no differently than cocaine snorting pushers annoyed me back in the 80′s.

I think I’m firmly planted in the category “Asshole”. And that’s O.K. with me. And I don’t use credit cards because I don’t like being tracked.

one thing that always had me wondering; you guys might know: could ‘they’ activate your cell-phone and listen?
Suppose you sleep; could they activate your cell phone and listen to guess if you’re awake? — to detecting love-making sounds, or radio, TV; etc.
I never thought this had ever happened; I’m just curious if ‘they’ could do it easily; spy on you via your own cell-phone.

Dagny if you’re doing stuff like that I suggest torproject.com (free basic anonymity) or cryptohippie.com (not free but very secure anonymity) to hide your IP from people who may want to harm you or mess with your computer. As far as providing security from big Sis, I don’t think anyone in the US can do that since all software and Internet hardware is accessible by the government by definition.
Go to DaveJanda.com and look under “operation freedom” podcasts for cryptohippie founder Paul Rosenberg. His interviews provide good information about online security regardless of wether or not you choose to use his company. Dr. Janda interviews Ann Barnhardt frequently which is how I found out about his service.
Be careful!

@Dagny,
Don’t know about cell phones, but I read recently about Smart TVs being hacked to the point where someone remote can watch you from your own TV. Specifically the Samsung Smart TVs. Do an Internet search. You’ll find interesting articles on the subject.

Cell phones can be turned on remotely and used as microphones. In high level government and corporate meetings it’s SOP for attendees to remove their cell phone batteries to prevent eavesdropping. Law enforcement agencies have admitted using this tactic to target drug dealers.

@KF, many thanks; I will read Dave Janda and listen to Rosenberg.
I’m not doing anything hardcore on FB[I]; only following them nefarious muzzies and taking screenshots; for instance, Saudi moneymen posing with Free Syrian colonels for a fundrasing or some other warlords; or with al-nusra. Stuff like that. They are all pretty obvious about it; since jihadis in Syria and in Gaza upload vids on YouTube and tweets and FB in order to get money from Saudis and Qataris. A Saudi said to jihadis something like, ‘hit it, film it, publicize it’ and then you’ll get money.
I don’t care what the muslims think.

If I care about anonymity, it’s not because I care about Big Brother or the muzzies; it’s more about prospective jobs, for potential employers.

wow, not even only shutting off the phone… It’s more subtle than I would have thought, silly me.

“Google TV, Microsoft, Comcast, and now Verizon have all submitted patent applications to create televisions and DVRs that will watch you as you watch TV. ”
At least in the fifties folks dressed up to watch TV.
Now I pity the poor guy in his cubicle who’ll watch obese shirtless Obama-voters watching porn or football.

Here’s an article on the Smart TV’s that are equipped with built-in cameras and microphones so they can see and hear whatever is in front of it.

Everyday I read something about fb, and everyday I am reminded why I never got on board.
I hate fb, I hate the fact that so many people have a false sense of security and think they have control on their privacy then bitch when something happens that blows their little security bubble away.
Did I mention I hate fb?

Does she not know you can post privately and put your settings so that invited friends only can see your stuff?
This is like a big star going out to a very public place and whining cuz their picture is all over the place while there.
