Boy, I like that first one. I must say that I really believe that if it ever comes to confiscating on a door-to-door basis, there will be confrontations leading to gun battles all across our nation. There’s a lot of die-hard, tough motherf*&$#s out there that are not going to fall in line, and wimpy people too, who’ll suddenly realize the power in their hands and who’ll put a bullet in the head of that fine young HS boy down the block with a great reputation now turned Gestapo braking the door down to get their weapons. And if the Feds and military stormtroopers think it’s all going to be a Waco deal here and there, they can dream on. When it comes to a man’s life and his family, if he’s any man at all, he’ll take down ANYONE trying to do harm or threaten him and his family.

It’s all in the approach.
Step 1, pass some gun law. Let’s pull one out of // /// the air and say that all semiauto weapons are to be turned in in the next 30 days. Some percentage of the population is sufficiently law abiding that this will happen. Some percentage will self-identify as being non-compliant.
Step 2, with the media in tow, send a SWAT team to a non-compliant household. Pick one with a family, hubby, wife, kids, and dog. Kick down the door, shoot the dog, stomp the cat, handcuff everybody, toss the house, find the semi-auto, arrest both parents, and ship the kids off to child services. Give interview to fawning press declaring victory and depart leaving the lights on and the doors open.
Step 3, declare a 2-week amnesty. Many more will comply.
Step 4, pick up the rest at work or in social situations where they’re unlikely to be armed, at least more than minimally. Call S.O./spouse/roommate to come down and post bail. Arrest same on arrival. Having cleared the residence with minimal trouble, repeat step 2.

See, easy.

BTW, I think the figure of 300 million guns is way off the real number. Half of the people in this country say they have a gun, and every gun owner I know has at least 4 guns. So in my estimation, if the central planners seize 300 million weapons, that will leave 300 million in the hands of the people.
