I camped in Yellowstone for a few days in 1989 on my way to Alaska to see the Valdez oil spill. In 1988, fires burned about half of Yellowstone and that restricted camping sites. Many of the fires were caused by lightening, but a few were man made.
Bison strolled through our campsite, bears remained visible in the distance, and I was prepared to explore the park. Old faithful has a “schedule” of when it’s suppose to blow, but wasn’t on time by any means and it was less than spectacular when it did go, believed to be the result of man-made trash restricting the underground natural tunnels/pipes that allow the water to flow. Much to see in the park was closed from the fires. I did make it over to the sulfur pits to see all that pretty steam you see in the video, the smell is overwhelmingly like a giant fart. I was angered to see a walkway by the pits littered with trash.
I had expected to see damage from the fires, but was overall depressed how man had screwed up this park. Hopefully it has improved since then. If we want to continue to enjoy parks like these, please do your part to keep it natural and spread word to others to be respectful, pick up your trash, and realize the damage fire can do.

Beautiful! Is that what WINTER is like?
Here in south Florida 49º is “freezing,” snow has happened once in recorded history (1977) and we define winter as the time between Christmas and Easter/Passover when invade pour space and KVETCH about how cold it is in places like the one in the video.
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
