Jake Tapper Moves From Left to Left

Jake Tapper is moving from ABC to CNN, or in media terms, he’s going from left to a little bit more left. Many on Twitter, across the political spectrum, have congratulated CNN for their hire.

Frankly, the Washington Free Beacon summed it up best for me: Former Dem Spokesman Joins Third Place Network.

Tapper’s big break in media was having dated Monica Lewinsky shortly before Bill Clinton made her and her dress famous. Tapper wrote about dating her. That’ll make ya famous and “accomplished” in Washington.

That’s not to take anything away from what has made Mr. Tapper popular lately, even among conservatives. He asks Barack Obama tough questions, when most in the media won’t. That’s not nothing. He does stand out, along with Ed Henry and a few others, for not taking the White House’s line with mind-killing consistency. He makes Jay Carney earn his paycheck.

But his latest tough question to Obama came from the point of view one might expect from someone who once worked for Handgun Control, Inc. Knowing that fact helps explain what I’m about to say next.

On Wednesday, after President Obama announced he was placing VP Joe Biden atop a new gun control effort in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, Tapper asked: “This is not the first incident of horrific gun violence of your four years. Where have you been?”

Do you see the spin built into that question? Apparently many very smart conservatives do not.

If you keep moving to the left, you end up traveling in circles.

Good article. I don’t respect Tapper. He’s another non-reporter. He gets a lot of praise for asking Obama the tough questions but he’s still a biased activist in journalist’s clothing.

    “Where have you been?”
“How come gays can serve in the military but not get married?”

He’s a thin-skinned prick with a left-wing anti-gun, pro-gay agenda. He can go to MSNBC and lick Chris Matthew’s boots for all I care.

@crusty +10 he’s slightly less in the bag than the rest of the dirtbags. Considering the groupthink and obvious bias that goes on in modern “journalism” I don’t understand the huge kudos Tapper gets.

The press today gives the illusion of independent unbased thought while pushing a destructive leftist agenda. Tapper is part of this establishment. Would that loon Ted Turners CNN hire anyone who wasn’t interested in furthering their agenda? Any conservatives that they do employ seem to be either fake, unprincipled, not well versed in principles or neutered by being only one voice surrounded by opposition (thus giving the impression of being wrong).

    Don’t fall for the bull.

We see his stories in right-wing blogs when they are attacking the left, but we don’t see all of his stories. There are certainly things to like about Tapper, but as with any person I take his views and actions case by case.

This is not the first incident of horrific gun violence of your four years. Where have you been?

“Well Jake, let me answer the second part of that first. The back 9 at Andrews AFB.”

    “What about the first part?”

    “What about it?”

I’d give Tapper some kudos for not being as koolaid saturated as his non-Fox compadres. At least sometimes he asks real questions that get reported on a network other than Fox and that brings at least some credence to the idea that there are some real problems with Obama and his gang. He might just be smart enough to realize that if he cruises a little more like a real reporter that he’ll stand out on CNN and get good ratings. However I suspect that if he goes too much over the lefties that run CNN will toss him over the side.
