Progressive Radio Station Goes Out of Business and Takes Parting Shots at Obama For Not Greasing Them Back
From the website of WVKO 1580AM in Columbus, “Ohio’s Progressive Talk”:
It is with great sadness I must inform WVKO’s listeners that once again, Progressive Talk will be silenced on the Columbus airwaves. Our one-year lease on the station is about to expire, and at this time there is no way that we can continue operating the station. So as of midnight on Sunday, December 16th, the new operators will be airing a gospel format on WVKO. Once again, we had a good run with the station, and we were happy to in some small way contribute to the success that the Democrats enjoyed in November. Unfortunately, it was not a two-way street, and lack of advertising support from the Obama campaign all the way down to local races ensured that we will be unable to continue into the new year.

Excuse, excuses. Conservative talk radio does just fine without democratic pay back.

Don’t you think the FCC should regulate radio licensing so there’s at least one progressive station available to everyone?
Don’t you think federal funds should be used to run these progressive stations if they can’t pay their own way?
Don’t you think there should be a sarc font?

That’s what happens to useful idiots when they are no longer useful. They get tossed like the garbage they are. Of course, they can take solace in the fact that while they are no longer useful, they’re still idiots.

from the end of the article:
“Some emotional pain is so deep, not even a good Bush joke can provide comfort.
It must hurt when you do everything you can to help your side win, and then they do, and your reward is… going out of business.”
Wow, that’s some emotional pain! Not even a good Bush joke?? Somebody break out the emergency Prozac! Or maybe a double chai, soy latte and a chakra realignment. Whatever they do for emotional devastation.

They should have tried holding their breath to get their payback. That always works with bratty kids, right?
No? Oh shit, you say they just wake up after they faint. Dang.

‘Unfortunately, it was not a two-way street’
Unthinkable. Obama used and then abandoned them.
If they only had a precedent they could have prepared themselves better, but no, couldn’t find a single instance, eh, dipshits ?

…and filling your heads with lies that Darwin was wrong. Don’t listen. Don’t listen!
… and got 0bama “elected” (Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink) with our “voting assistance” here in Ohio.
…was not adequately vocalized at the time, because it is hard to talk with 0bama’s pecker in our mouths.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

LOL! That’s so rich, like the Dems in the WH, the DNC, and Kaliforkneeya, they didn’t save for a rainy day. They blame others for their mismanagement of funds and now they have to concede to a right wing religious group. The story is hilarious!

” we were happy to in some small way contribute to the success that the Democrats enjoyed in November.”
I don’t know why they have taken such an attitude. This is SOP with Obama, once your usefulness to him is over you’re tossed out like yesterday’s trash. With Obama it’s always a one why street. Guess they never noticed.

@Xavier I thought NPR was the government funded Progressive / Socialist radio network. And without government money flowing to those NPR member stations, it would go the way of WVKO.

@Rey — I don’t know. They must have beat someone in the democrat party to even get on the air.

A local station dropped Neal Boortz and replaced him with Geraldo. If it wasn’t for Rush and Hannity, it would bite the dust too. They have an egomaniac with a 3 hour show in the morning. I listen to an hour of Bill Bennett, then the radio goes off until Rush comes on. Sorry, Geraldo, you are in the wrong place.

The problem with progressive radio (and don’t kid yourself, there is an audience out there for them the past elections show that) is that any of them I’ve listened to is rabidly left with no attempt at being reasonable or tempering their viewpoints even a little. Couple this with absolutely no understanding of business (especially talk radio) and these people will always go out of business the moment their sugardaddy decides to longer support them. The funny part is when they whine about their failure and blame someone else. Kind of like this guy whining and blaming Obama.
