Good gracious, if I swing a bat at your head, the bat becomes an assault weapon. These people are ass holes and if anybody comes near me to confiscate my guns, they will only succeed and giving everyone a very vivid lesson in why we have a second amendment.

I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down.
Empty rhetoric emphasized with lies condoned by tyrants.
Forty-seven percent of American adults currently report that they have a gun in their home or elsewhere on their property. This is up from 41% a year ago and is the highest Gallup has recorded since 1993, albeit marginally above the 44% and 45% highs seen during that period and it’s increasing by 4 million more gun purchases per year.
Take em if you can Carney, Obama and liberal Democrats.

Executive Orders are binding on the executive department only. Citizens are not required to obey anything but a constitutionally created law, and the associated regulations that congress allows.
Yes I know that the Japanese internment during WWII was an executive order from FDR. Yes I know that SCOTUS upheld the internment. We were at war and that was a necessary process for national security.
You cannot say the same about banning guns in light of the Heller and McDonald decisions.
Will 0bama do it anyway? Of course. But the only people that are required to obey it are his flunkies. Certainly not the many police and sheriff departments throughout the country. And SCOTUS ruled that the military cannot be used for purposes of posse comitatus.

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
Another executive order on the horizon, Obama no longer cares about votes, nor appeasing any of the populace. Lest anyone think Obama will not try to stop the sale of guns, remember, no one thought the government could MAKE you buy health insurance either. Nor tell you what your health insurance coverage should be.
Welcome to government control. What you can buy, what you must buy, what you should eat, what you shouldn’t eat, how you should raise your kids, and what their education looks like. Government knows best.

“Reform” when spewed from the mouth of a progressive means complete reversal, or something draconian.
The people should demand a dialogue.
I would like to see a negotiation, because despite all the talk about your God-given rights, the fact is man has stripped you of these rights.
I would like to see it legal to conceal carry any handgun on a national level. Once that is put in place you can have the discussion about the limitations of where and when you can brandish other weaponry.
They should be legal to keep in your home- as many, and as bad-ass as you want them to be.
The level of bad-ass can be discussed when carrying them around in public.
Before anyone jumps down my throat, how am I being a heretic when I’m currently, by law, unable to conceal carry?
How is God’s law helping me now?

The Sandy Hook killer would probably not have been stopped by gun control because the weapons were owned by his mother. The Columbine killers obtained their weapons illegally under existing gun laws. The Virginia Tech killer had been previously determined to have a mental condition, but was apparently able to pass the background checks because Virginia did not report this to the Federal data base – and the fact remains that Cho was legally ineligible to buy guns. The Bath School killings were done by explosives.
In all of these instances, the first question should be “did we already have controls in place?” And the answer is “yes, we did, but they didn’t work.” Short of an absolute ban on privately owned guns, which is probably what liberals really want, the fact remains that all of these killers obtained guns despite existing laws designed to keep them out of their hands.
With regard to Sandy Hook, if one of my children had anti-social or mental problems, I would not have allowed him to have access to any guns I may have owned. However, Mrs. Lanza was killed, so it is politically incorrect to point this out. The Columbine students amassed an arsenal illegally, including home made bombs, that they kept in their bedrooms, and their parents never bothered to notice. Cho, the Virginia Tech murderer, had well known history of mental problems, but apparently the powers that be chose to ignore this. The systems failed not because there were no systems, but because the people involved in those systems failed.
All the anti-gun proponents will succeed in doing is removing guns from law abiding citizens, who pose no threat in these types of actions in the first place.

I mean really – if they try to take the firearms from even 10% of those who own them (cuz they are “assault weapons”) and 10% of them resist – heavily – the result would be 100,000+ casualties at a minimum.

Connecticut’s gun laws probably had more to do with aiding and abetting this animal. Perhaps if the school were not a gun-free zone, and concealed weapons were permitted, someone employed at the school may very well have been able to stop this beast before he succeeded in slaughtering so many.
It happened in Pearl River, Mississippi when the school shooter there was stopped by the assistant principal who ran to his car and retrieved his forty-five.

Though someone posted this earlier today on Twitchy, I think this was something that was actually considered a falsehhood from a while back. I like anything that’ll make a leftist head pop.
Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to the US Constitution, as well as Vermont’s own Constitution very carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents has some eyeballs in NE and elsewhere popping.
Maslack recently proposed a bill to register “non-gun-owners”
and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state. Thus Vermont would become the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun.
Maslack read the “militia” phrase of the Second Amendment as not only the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as “a clear mandate to do so.” He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a “monopoly of force” by the government as well as criminals. Vermont’s constitution states explicitly that “the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State” and those persons who are “conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms” shall be required to “pay such equivalent…”
Clearly, says Maslack, Vermonters have a constitutional obligation to arm themselves, so that they are capable of responding to “any situation that may arise.”
Under the bill, adults who choose not to own a firearm would be
required to register their name, address, Social Security Number, and driver’s license number with the state. “There is a legitimate
government interest in knowing who is not prepared to defend the state should they be asked to do so,” Maslack says.
Vermont already boasts a high rate of gun ownership along with the least restrictive laws of any state…it is one of the few states that allow a citizen to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.
This combination of plenty of guns and few laws regulating them has resulted in a crime rate that is the third lowest in the nation.
“America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.”
Sounds like a plan to me.
And, personally, I think the Second Amendment is going to usher in the complete and utter downfall of the Obama Administration.

Fur, maybe you need to move. It’s your state that’s keeping you from carrying – not the Feds.
Many states allow non-permitted open carry.
AZ, Alaska, Vermont to name 3.
I rank my home state around #43 for gun rights, I know hollywood has built up this great myth about “gun friendly” Texas but it is a myth. Even Kalifornia had non-permit open carry everywhere but that has tightened up some recently.
Texas has a ways to go to be as free as many other states already are.

“Kill all NRA members,” [NRA members] are domestic terrorists,” “confiscate them.” Rationality be damned, we have been targeted by Collectivism for removal.
All the communists have to do is change the definition of a “prohibited person” to make hundreds of thousands either turn in their guns or become instant felons. Choose freedom and you get the label and become the target of federally-funded law officers. No more Constitution for you, surrender all you have and go to jail. Fight back and get shot dead by the very weapons they ban, including everyone in your family.
It’s gut check time. They WILL slaughter you for your guns.

Of course Obama supports gun control and the more control the better he likes it. Tyrants don’t like to have an armed populace to contend with.
Every member of this board and every person on the political Right with an ounce of sense saw this coming. By 2016, we will be unarmed subjects of a single party, almighty god-state. The only question remaining is whether we’ll be more like modern-day Western Europe, where they now literally tell you how to go to the bathroom, or do we get a repeat of the Stalinist-era Soviet Union.

Claudia, my local shop just expanded and the place was filled with people today. I waited an hour and half just to get my hands on a few rifles. One guy was in a near panic about getting one of 5 – err 4, now 3, oops another gone 2, wait only 1 left. I told him I needed to get moving too as I had to meet the kids after school. He finally stopped someone and asked nicely if they would pull the last one while he waited, they did.
He then let me go in front of him, because that’s how gun owners are. Unfortunately the paperwork process left me no time so I had to come back.

I have never had a bad report on the Rem 870- it has been the standard pump gun for decades. If you are concerned with potential quality issues on late- production guns, you might look for a ued one. you should be able to find one for well under $300.00.
