Austin Gun Store Owner Offers Teachers A Discount
AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) – An Austin-area gun store owner is joining the gun rights debate with a controversial offer for teachers in light of the tragic shooting in Connecticut.
Crocket Keller of Kellers Riverside Gun Store says if educators want to get a concealed handgun license, he’ll give them a discount.

Like the local radio host said:
would you rather see a sign that says no guns allowed in the school or one that says the staff is armed and trained and ready to handle your ass.
BTW: ever notice these nuts never attack gun ranges?

I am ashamed to admit I’ve never been to his store. In fact, I was planning on making a substantial purchase from one of his competitors just the street from him this week.
Why am I ashamed I haven’t been there? This is why – http://www.kellersstore.com/guns.html

I had a carry permit a number of years ago, but it expired as I wasn’t “into” guns for a while.
At the time, people got a carry permit because it negated the need for a “waiting period” for the background check. Now, BCs are instant, and it doesn’t matter with regard to buying a handgun in this state.
I just re-applied for the carry permit and my wife is getting one too. I think we plan to carry matching glock 26s.

To hell with that. Charge ‘em an extra 10%.
They’re liberals and can’t carry in schools.

Normally I’m opposed to discounts for union-hack teachers, but I’d make an exception for this gesture.

There are some good things to be said about Texas, this is one of them.

A San Antonio firearms training company is offering free concealed carry certification classes to teachers and administrators over the Christmas break.

I think teachers should be given the option to carry firearms on their person, or at least locked in a safety box in their desk where they can get to it.
Also, the principal should have one in his office, and since most custodians double as security, they should be trained and have one in their office as well.
PROBLEM SOLVED.

Gun free zones = free fire zones.
I agree with DBF. There are gun safety boxes that will only open with a specific person’s hand-print and code number. Completely safe from prying kiddies. They also have a non-open code so if the teacher gets surprised by an intruder looking for a gun and are forced to open the box to get the gun, they just enter the non-open code and the box is locked and can only be opened with a master code.
This would be the only reason I can see for an increase in school funding.

From the Austin article:
Gayle Fallon with the American Federation of Teachers. “In a lot of cases, the perpetrator is a kid. Look at Columbine, it was a 14-year-old kid. You tell me a teacher is going to look in the eyes of a 14-year-old and pull the trigger — it’s not in their emotional make up.”
Yes, Ms/Miss/Mrs Fallon, unlike yourself, some teachers have the survival instinct and also the instinct to protect the innocent. So, those who do have the survival instinct should be allowed to CCW. She is living in a complete world of pacifist fantasy.

I love it, but I’m still stunned this occurred in my state’s most liberal of cities, Austin. (I actually love Austin, but it’s…different).
