Attorney General Secretly Granted Gov. Ability to Develop and Store Dossiers on Innocent Americans

In a secret government agreement granted without approval or debate from lawmakers, the U.S. attorney general recently gave the National Counterterrorism Center sweeping new powers to store dossiers on U.S. citizens, even if they are not suspected of a crime, according to a news report.
Earlier this year, Attorney General Eric Holder granted the center the ability to copy entire government databases holding information on flight records, casino-employee lists, the names of Americans hosting foreign-exchange students and other data, and to store it for up to five years, even without suspicion that someone in the database has committed a crime, according to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story.
Whereas previously the law prohibited the center from storing data compilations on U.S. citizens unless they were suspected of terrorist activity or were relevant to an ongoing terrorism investigation, the new powers give the center the ability to not only collect and store vast databases of information but also to trawl through and analyze it for suspicious patterns of behavior in order to uncover activity that could launch an investigation.
The changes granted by Holder would also allow databases containing information about U.S. citizens to be shared with foreign governments for their own analysis.
A former senior White House official told the Journal that the new changes were “breathtaking in scope.”

Of course he did. Why is anyone surprised? And of course, no one will do a thing about it… theres too much TV to watch, too many things to do for the commercialized holiday we call Christmas,,, blah, blah, blah and so on. Instead of being absolutely outraged like they should be, the American public will lie back like a bitch and take it because we have devolved into a society that wants to let someone else do the work instead of putting the effort into their own freedom and rights. Meanwhile, the people that do give a shit and don’t wish to be a part of the Big Brother society, they’re outnumbered as well a screwed and are the victims of all lazy assholes who voted for free stuff.
We had better wake the hell up soon.

George Carlin had it pegged “…when fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jackboots. It will be Nike sneakers and smiley shirts.”

This may not be a problem now, but could pose a substantial risk to citizens in Obama’s 4th or 5th term.

@Unkle its not the ends that they try to achieve that’s so corrupting, its the means that end up totalitarian.
Besides, I’m trying to see if one of the geniuses at iOTW will photoshop an ugly dress on Holder.

So this list no doubt consists of conservative Republicans, Tea-party members, NRA members, gun owners who are not NRA members, survivalists who are buying gold, silver, emergency food, crossbows, etc in case the world crumbles.
I also have no doubt that you will not find one OWS or Union thug on that database.

I think this may be in violation of 28 CFR Part 23 which specifies the types of criminal intelligence systems that can be supported with federal dollars.
There is no criminal investigation context for this exercise. Probable cause goes right out the window and the Constitution right alongside it.

§ 23.3 Applicability.
(3) Criminal Intelligence Information means data which has been evaluated to determine that it: (i) is relevant to the identification of and the criminal activity engaged in by an individual who or organization which is reasonably suspected of involvement in criminal activity, and (ii) meets criminal intelligence system submission criteria; (4) Participating Agency means an agency of local, county, State, Federal, or other governmental unit which exercises law enforcement or criminal investigation authority and which is authorized to submit and receive criminal intelligence information through an interjurisdictional intelligence system. A participating agency may be a member or a nonmember of an interjurisdictional intelligence system;
