France Threatens To Kick Belgium Out Of The Socialist Club
As more and more wealthy French bourgeousie flee (first Arnault, now Depardieu) the nation of their birth to the smaller and better-beer-making nation of Belgium, it seems that socialist president Hollande is not amused. His cunning plan to tax the crepe out of the uber-wealthy has back-fired – quelle surprise – and in the most passive aggressive statement in a while, Agence France-Presse notess that Hollande ‘patriotically’ demands “there’s no other way” than to revise fiscal agreements with countries (cough Belgium cough) offering advantageous tax rates. AFP goes on to note his additional rantings, “We’re reconciling our budget policies, we must reconcile our tax policies,” Hollande said at a press conference in Brussels as France is “forced to renegotiate the tax convention to deal with those who have moved to some Belgian village.” Shame really.

I’m looking forward to watching the long, straggling lines of billionaire liberal refugees being forced to go from country to country in their yachts or Private Jets or Rolls-Royces desperately trying to find a free, conservative country that hasn’t fallen prey to what they were so recently preaching about evil conservatives not paying enough tax in their evil conservative countries. Socialists hate countries that have lower taxes than they have. Especially when the low tax country shares a border and speaks the same language as the socialist country.
It’s kind of like what happened in the Revolutionary War. Since both colonists and the British soldiers spoke the same language, the biggest problem the British Army faced was their finest not showing up for morning roll call. The soldiers would tell the colonists that, for fighting the colonists, they were going to get a piece of land back home in Britain, but they would still have to give money and crops to the lord because he really owned the land. The colonists told the soldiers that they could have the back 40 and own it outright! So desertion was a problem for the British Army.
Why do you think the British brought in German-speaking Hessians? Bet the French wish they shared their entire border with Germany now, huh?
